I still don't understand how that Bama/Utah game happened. I cringe every time a mid-major brings it up because there is not a good comeback and saying "fluke game" is just weak.

Motivation had a lot to do with it, but I think Bama fans put too much blame on that. I think the importance of Andre Smith to that team really showed when he was suspended for it. We had to shuffle a few guys on the o-line and had injuries in the game and our line was absolutely dominated.

It's still no excuse. Utah smelled blood and they stuck it to us.

Arkansas is 3-10-1 all-time vs the SEC in bowls. So I would say they benefit the SEC the most because those losses helps the SEC overall record.

I still dont get this. It was Bama's first Sugar Bowl in 16 years. I know they were down after losing the Florida game, but shouldnt they have been more excited about playing in New Orleans after playing in Shreveport the year before?

Arkansas has won the Sugar Bowl and the Orange Bowl--though not in the "B(c)S" era.

We won 3 bowl games since 99 (TX, MO, and ECU). And have lost to UNLV, Minn., OU, MO, Wisc. and tOSU.

No team that has recently lost to ULM (Bama) or Central Florida/Boise (UGA) should be talking crap about OOC losses.

LSU has a 1-1-1 record against tOSU.

.....at least in terms of how it makes the SEC look? None of the rest of us can really talk.

Bama lost to fricking Utah.
LSU lost to a lame arse Penn St.
Auburn lost to a Clemson team that gave up 70 to a Big East team.
Florida has been blown out by FSU two years in a row.
USC got beat by FSU.

Don't include the Hogs in that list. We didn't lose to OSU (check the official records if you dodn't believe that). JK!

I was pissed whan all those SEC teams lost.

Yeah, because UNLV and Minnesota are SOOO much better losses. Disregard the fact that Boise is currently ranked 7th. My how awful.

That's what happens sometimes when our 4th or 5th best team plays another conference's 2nd best team.

And this is fact that frequently goes unnoticed. When a conference puts a team in the National Championship Game, all the other teams in that Conference get elevated to a better bowl and a higher ranked opponent than they would normally play. And in the SEC teams are usually “playing up” but still manages to do very, very well.

This year the SEC is playing two up.

I would argue Bama's loss to Utah is the worst SEC embarrassment since SEC dominance began. That game is still being mentioned by mid majors as proof of their legitimacy.

I think that game and Boise's win over OU in the Fiesta Bowl were the two biggest turning points for non-AQ legitimacy.

Yet, even so, the BCS bowls still don't take them unless they have to, hence #7 Boise State plays in a shite bowl while #11 and #13 get at-large berths in the Sugar Bowl.

Damn it, Nutt was coaching those games and don’t forget that he played 4, FOUR! Different QB in the loss to that powerhouse UNLV!

I think the loss to Mizzou was the most ridiculous. That team was so freaking loaded. I thought R-Kansas was going to put them down like ole yeller with DMC, Felix, and Hillis.

No coach, and none of those RBs even cared about the bowl game. They were all looking towards the NFL.
