.....at least in terms of how it makes the SEC look? None of the rest of us can really talk.

Bama lost to fricking Utah.
LSU lost to a lame arse Penn St.
Auburn lost to a Clemson team that gave up 70 to a Big East team.
Florida has been blown out by FSU two years in a row.
USC got beat by FSU.

Well I'll be damned, Monticello actually defending UGA. It's a festivus miracle.

And I agree. We lost, but we didn't get nationally undressed like clemson did. We went to 3OT with the big 10's second best team. Yeah we should have won, yeah we fricked up, but it's not like we lost by 30. And on top of that, we have done well in bowls under Richt. He's won 2 BCS bowls including a complete beatdown.

And in addition to your bowl embarrassments listed, SC lost to Uconn a few years ago, and UT lost in back to back peach bowls to some pretty bad teams. Every SEC team has crapped the bed in bowls before.

That's what happens sometimes when our 4th or 5th best team plays another conference's 2nd best team.

Exactly. Everyone seemed to be under the impression that Bama, LSU, Arky, and SC were better than us, so would it really be a surprise for the 5th best SEC team to lose to the big 10's second best team, in 3OT no less?

Bama and Lsu lost years ago. Not quite the same.

You still should have won.

It's not just those two games, though. Georgia also lost to Central Florida last year, and Arky has only won two bowl games since 1999, with one of those coming against East Carolina. In the meantime, Arkie has lost to the likes of UNLV and Minnesota, and has been absolutely blown out by Missouri. Both of these teams have really shite the bed in bowls recently, Arkie more than UGa.

And has never won a BCS bowl.

Which is why they should be a leading candidate to carry the bowl failure banner of the SEC, not us.

Yeah, but we've also beaten FSU (sugar), purdue, wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Hawaii (sugar) and Texas A&M in bowls too. We've had 2 bad showings recently and it's like all of the good we did suddenly got wiped out.

Yes, all four were better than Georgia.

Yes. Or at least it should be. Of course, the point is that you had that game won and pissed it away.

Good post. I was about to reply on the "What does it say that WVU..." thread when it immediately slipped into an Arkansas bashing exercise.

Look, we fricked the whole deal up last year against tOSU. We lost obviously, no matter what the records books say. And trust me, no one feels worse about it than Hog fans. If you're under the delusion that we're not SICK about losing that game you're grossly mistaken. We're weren't just happy we got there and we understood/appreciated the importance of representing our conference.

Unfortunately we friggin lost. Our WRs played their worst game of the season and Mallett threw one of the worst interceptions (if not THE worst) of his career or we would have had em.

Long story short (too late) i'm thankful that a cease fire has been issued. We'll do our best not to frick the next one up tomorrow night.

So what's the cutoff then? If the 5th best SEC team (and 2nd best team in a shittastic division) losing a squeaker to the big 10's 2nd best is surprising, what should not be surprising? Our 6th best team? 8th? At what point is it expected?

No doubt Arkie is the worst offender.

Not wiped out, but recently tainted. Until last year, Georgia was a typical SEC bowl team.

us losing to Uconn and Mizzou in our recent bowl games was worse.

Iowa was bad too.

There's no set cutoff. In this particular year, when the SEC was so ridiculously superior to the Big Ten, an SEC division champion (even if they were only 5th best overall) should beat the third choice (even if they were the 2nd best team) from the Big Ten.

But, I guess enough is enough. There's nothing you as a fan can do about it, nor anything we as fans of other schools have done to earn our teams' bowl wins, so the bashing is pointless. Good luck in your bowls in the future.

I would argue Bama's loss to Utah is the worst SEC embarrassment since SEC dominance began. That game is still being mentioned by mid majors as proof of their legitimacy. That was a Bama team 5 minutes from playing in the national title and we were blown out by Utah. Physically dominated in the trenches the way SEC teams dominate others.

The 1 non-conference loss in the Les Miles era. They're 32-1 and that was the one. And it was a 2 pt. loss. Nobody's represented the SEC outside the conference better than LSU in recent years. 5-1 in bowls under Les and all the victories have been by at least 14 points.

I still don't understand how that Bama/Utah game happened. I cringe every time a mid-major brings it up because there is not a good comeback and saying "fluke game" is just weak.
