Is a really good quarterback. But that he basically beat Alabama last year because Clemson receivers made a bunch of great plays on low percentage throws that broke the game open? I just don’t see him as a dominant, take the game over guy in the same vein as a Burrow or Cam or Tebow.

What he is: great arm, surprisingly good running the ball, and not going to put his team in bad positions.

What % of his throws are on a roll out? Seemed that was the only way he threw the ball all night.

Good summation of Lawrence, imo.

I think he’s more than an extremely talented game manager, which is what it seems you’re calling him.

He can still make plays outside the system when the play breaks down and does have a bit of an x-factor, even if he’s not pure x-factor like Manziel/Cam/Tebow.

He reminds me of a faster version of Drew Bledsoe, and Drew Bledsoe was a good QB, even if he’s not a hall of famer. Guy went to four Pro-Bowls.

I mean that’s where he really shines. Dude’s arm is lit when he can be running to the right full speed and throw the ball, on the run, back across the field to a receiver hugging the sideline. I don’t want to downplay him. As a UGA guy, I’d take him in a second. But that Clemson offense was best when it went through Etienne.

I would also argue that Bama DBs made him look good too. Smith flopping towards the end wasn't great for UA.

Savion Smith contributed greatly to his performance in that game as well. Plus, Saban lacking the Xs and Os DC with an attack oriented mindset continues to hurt Bama... then and now and apparently into next season

Lawrence had a hell of a lot more time to throw than Burrow and didn't have to hit as many tight windows.

He's a very good QB and will get better, but one guy was able to put the team on his back and the other couldn't. Burrow may not be the most physically gifted QB, but the dude is a warrior and the player you want to build a team around.

Yeah I don’t want to understate his talent. He’s got an elite arm and he’s surprisingly, and I mean surprisingly, good running with the ball. Especially for such a tall guy. But the Clemson defense handed him opportunity after opportunity early on, and again in the third quarter after they’d closed to 28-25, and he didn’t capitalize. Not only that, but he had some bad overthrows during that stretch.

Entirely possible he had a bad night and LSU defense deserves some credit for that too.

Lawrence got really sloppy with his footwork as the pressure built. I'm sure he will work his arse off in the offseason on improving after this loss.

I’ve got to think last night was the exception for him. He made some flat out bad throws. To his credit no turnovers though.

He's pretty decent with his legs. Not very good with his arm. Pretty much a good ACC QB.

Lawrence is extremely overrated. Playing in a garbage conference is going to hurt his entire future. He's not ever going to be the hard worker that Joe is. TL will be decent but never a truly next level qb.

Agree. Is he even 21 yet though? I hate to dog the guy because he’s a damn good QB.

But last night he was pretty meh.

I'll admit that if you add that we looked like a dumpster fire for 57 minutes of the game.

He will be great. He is a tough kid. He will be back next year in the championship if I had to bet
