Can Tennessee attract a better coach than a Lyle type?

Nope. Tenner is done. It's over.

Tennessee is basically the Nebraska of the SEC.

They had their good years, but there is no reason to expect them to ever be back among the top teams in CFB.

Could they? Sure, money talks. Will they? I don't think so. I don't think the UT admin is willing to spend the kind of money on athletics it takes to win big.

Gus is ready and would be tickled to death for the job.

If the chuggers want to do better, the need to quit spanking to the thought of Jon Gruden and look at a Scott Frost or Frank Wilson. But we all know they won't do that

It's going to be interesting to see what happens there. Will be a lot of competition, in the SEC and out for coaches, and who knows where anyone will land. Big names already coaching won't move.

Petrino will be available to someone, but lots of suiters.

People either forget or have never known that Tennessee is statistically the 2nd best team in the SEC, and they didn't do that by being really good for 10 years and sucking for the other 110+.

Kiffin bruised their egos by running off to USC, and they made a bad choice or two, but Tennessee is capable of getting back up.
