Gus is a great coach, he'll be fine.

OP’s question is invalid. Auburn is picked 4/5 in the west. They are notorious for putting together stellar seasons when expectations are low and crashing and burning when picked high. They have great talent on both lines of scrimmage and Gus has the reigns of the offense again. They are going to be damn dangerous. I’m worried to death about the game in Jordan Hare if my predictions are correct and there’s big stakes riding on the game. Auburn will be fine and Gus is safe.

Without question. Will they? Who knows. It seems the people we have running the university are...well...not the brightest to say the least.

Auburn and UT spend money like drunken sailors.I honestly don't see how they keep doing it compared to our cheapskate AD who's ALWAYS whining about money.

s it feasible to let Gus this year regardless of record?

Sure. There is no end to what boosters will do in such cases. Auburn has plenty of wealthy donors.
As much as I dislike Auburn I always felt AU gave that game to FSU. With Jimbo, "past success does not predict future results".

Auburn was stupid to give him a contract with so much of the payout front loaded.

Your stuck in the past. Lowder hasn’t been a factor for years since Colonial Bank almost went belly up do to poor mortgage lending during the financial crisis in 2009. BB&T bought the branches for pennies on the dollar. He still has money but knowhere near what he did have.

Rane is reportedly the richest person in Alabama worth close to a billion. Harbert is one of the big dogs now. Graduated from Auburn in 1982 and was immediately made a VP at his fathers firm. Borrowed money from his father and set up and investment firm.

Mcwhorter is the other big dog. So between those 3 they can do what they want. Harbert is the one who reportedly told President Leathe to give Gus the huge contract so he should be the one to foot most of the bill.

You are 100% correct. Which is why the president who did this is now...um...unemployed. We didnt have an AD at the time. Our good ole boy AD had just been forced to resign under numerous shite hitting the fans moments. Taking heat from Gus, had a lawsuit coming from Baseball and Track. While dealing with the Chuck Person FBI fiasco... While having to rip our elite and i mean elite softball coaching staff out root and stem. After all of that shite being thrown on his plate he was forced out and is now an assistant AD in Gainsville Florida.

Anyway, we have a real AD now. Someone who isnt in anyway connected to Auburn, so he certainly isnt a good ole boy like JJ.

The president who gave Gus the ridiculous contract never made any friends at Auburn. He was hired under controversy from his time at Iowa State. He was bent over and took up his arse from Sexton after Gus beat UGA and Bama in a couple weeks. That pissed folks off. He wanted to fire bruce pearl and that pissed people off. He didnt know how to talk to people on the academic side. And he made the presidential mansion renovation go MONTHS and MILLIONS over schedule. And the funniest thing... A month or so ago, when asked about a football only complex, Leath stated:

"This is a complicated process, like any big, complicated building," Leath said. "We’ve got to do a lot of due diligence of what would be involved, what would be the estimated cost, these kind of things. So, there’s no decision if we’re even going to go forward. It’s still a due diligence period."

The Auburn board of trustees are not scheduled to discuss the facility, and no such line item is on the agenda for the upcoming quarterly meeting set for June 7, Auburn University president Steven Leath told Auburn Undercover at the SEC's spring meetings.

Until that June 7th meeting happened.... Following the events of the board of trustees meeting, university president Steven Leath announced in a series of tweets Wednesday that a working group will "immediately begin exploring options" and is expected to "provide options and recommendations" to the athletics department, board of trustees and senior university leadership by the fall.

The football-only complex wasn't part the agenda for last Friday's board of trustees meeting, but executive committee chairman Charles McCrary brought up the topic, telling Leath “It’s my sense of the board that everybody on the board agrees that we need to build that building."

Did Leath just have a change of heart? Not remotely. He was told...“Mr. President, I would recommend that you, sir, that you would put together a working group, post haste of whoever you so decide, so that they can focus and determine what’s in the building, what we want in the building and how much it’s going to cost, an idea of how much it’s going to cost. And then, raise the money. We need to do this. We all agree we need to do it. We need to raise the money and we need to get on with it so we can support Auburn, our dean, and our coach," McCrary said, according to the Opelika-Auburn News.

So while the president wasnt fired due to fooball ONLY to pretend it wasnt the driving force behind his firing is laughable.

And you dont even know how correct that comment was...
