Most predictions I’ve seen show Auburn battling for 4th/5th with Ms St in the west. This is would make 7 years in a row where Auburn lost at least 4 games with the BCS title game loss to Jimbo 8 years ago. It is my understanding that Auburn would not be satisfied with this position, but does the school have the donors to buy out Gus’s contract. I believe the buyout would be 26.6 M with 13.3 M due immediately. Add that into the cost of hiring a new big time coach. Is it feasible to let Gus this year regardless of record?

Gus is undefeated in College Station since TAMU joined the SEC.

Is that tidbit important enough to disregard everything else? I had no idea that was how Auburn viewed A&M. I always thought Bama was your super bowl.

Robert Lowder and Yella Fella won’t bat an eye at that buyout if Malzahn doesn’t produce up to their standards. People in that state kinda take their ncaa football seriously.

How's ticket sales and overall revenue for the Football department? If it's up or the same, then no. If it's down, then yes, they need to fire him to change that trajectory.

That’s a good question. Based on the fanbase on here it seems pretty apathetic overall. I think Saban has worn them down.

Yeah the money can be paid if he shits the bed again. Harbert and Yella Wood, along with a few others.

Yes.

Are you suggesting in the OP the loss to Jimbo was also a 4 loss season?

Yes, of course.

Do we really want to have to spend that kind of money to get rid of him? absolutely not.

He better pony up. He is a large factor as to why we are in the predicament to begin with.

Are y’all rooting for or against him this year? Sumlin’s last year was 100% lame duck. Everyone knew he was gone short of a top 10 finish.

Little of both? I don't think any Auburn fans are actively against Gus per say. Not to the degree A&M were with Sumlin. With Gus, the outline is clearly there on how he can be a constant contender on the national stage. What nobody understands is why does he keep getting in his own way?

Rooting for him, but more ready to see if he’s got it together as HC since he’s going back to play-calling. He did take us to a national championship, so we know it’s there.

We are set in baseball and basketball, so he needs to get it together.

Auburn and A&M will both be battling behind Mississippi State as usual

Did you know that Joe Moorhead is undefeated vs Texas A&M and Auburn.

Astounding

I am rooting for him. I don't know that I have faith in him, but I am rooting. Comparing him to Sumlin isn't fair...Gus has shown he can compete at an elite level. He just hasn't shown an ability to do it consistently which is what everyone wants.

If Auburn has a disaster season and they feel like they need to pull the trigger to save the program, then they'll find the money, I am sure.
