He’s a good coach. I think he’s improving too.

If Auburn wants him, highest paid coach in CFB, Jimbo type contract. You charge what the market will bear plus with that type contract you can tell the boosters to shut up and write checks and make it stick.

Absent that, let Sexton negotiate a raise in your current contract and build your brand. Less stress, fewer headaches, world class women.

I don’t see it as being terribly complicated for him.

Fans and media love “offensive gurus”. Kiffin and Sark are the latest like Tom Herman and Rich Rod were years ago.

Don’t forget to throw Sumlin in there.

Auburn is about to hire a coach that has never sustained success for more than 2 seasons.

Take note coming from an A&M fan: Hire a coach with. “proven” track record. Not the popular young coach of the past season.

This never pans out. Saban Smart, Dabo, Ryan Day. They all stayed in the same place for a while and sustained success.

Give me the names available that fit this criteria.

Agreed. I don't see what the hype is about him. He seems like a fun guy and a pretty good coach but his history is garbage.

Never sticks around long, has no problem burning bridges. Ole Miss doesn't want to lose him because he's brought a bit of excitement to their program the last few years, but no way he is worth what is being speculated.

Zereaux.

There are 7-8 Coordinators out there right now that fit this criteria.

And you don’t have to pay them 9 MM a year.

Hiring a coach based off of 1-2 years of work is a gamble that rarely works out.

Do they have names?

Is this a reference to kiffin? If so, how ignorant are you?

What? Dabo Kirby and Day are all in their first head coaching jobs. Saban won less than 7 games a year at MSU. It's pretty hard to predict what hires will work out but if schools only hired proven coaches with long track records of winning, we'd be missing some pretty great coaches.

He’s not outside of very desperate programs.

He's turned ole miss into a team that kinda sorta contends for the West...which is honestly as good as they've ever had it

His offensive coaching style is unstoppable with top talent. If he goes to Auburn they will be in the playoffs within 3 years.

Sure. But nobody is coming in and taking our coaches. That's why it was so fricking stupid to give Chizik or Gus the extensions they got. Neither was irreplaceable even if somebody was willing to pay their buyout and take them.

Harsin refused to even pursue top talent though. He honest to God thought hard working, bring your lunch box type 3* talent could be coached up and held accountable and they'd be able to stand toe to toe with the powers in the SEC. Harsin was in over his head and his stubbornness among other issues had to go.

He revolutionized Bama into an offensive juggernaut overnight
He had incredible offenses at FIU
He’s been very successful at Ole Miss after Freezus set the program on a trajectory of decline due to sanctions.

Agree. People don’t have enough respect for his experience. If he ends up at the right place, I picture him being a peak Pete Carroll type of threat every year but in his own way. I will say that he needs to fit in and feel like he fits in at whatever program he’s at. All I’ve seen over time is him getting better as a HC though.

He’s two halves away from being undefeated at Ole Miss this season solely based on the portal class he put together? Starts a freshman QB RB (maybe the best in college football) TE LT and RT. All we need is a couple more OL and WR’a and ole Miss will be in the playoffs soon.

Yeah, and Bama is literally 10 seconds from still being #1 and undefeated... This argument just doesn't hold water.

I see Kiffin as one of the greatest 'self-promoter's in the business but I admit even loving to watch his antics on the sideline.

Who could forget the 'popcorn' dropped mike against Bama moment or acting like he was praying and upset when he kept ridding injured Matt Corral down at AU last year. Pure gold.

Huh? We would be happy with Alabama’s coach too.

That’s something I never understood. Let them go, and get someone else good. Chiz I could see because he did have a ring. But not Gus
