1) He is damn good coach and he can adjust his offense as needed to the talent on the roster quickly.

2) Charismatic and is an excellent recruiter

3) Works portal as well as anyone

Other than that? not much

He’s about as good as Auburn can get, that’s how I’d put it.

I’m not sure people realize how bad Ole Miss usually is when Hugh Freeze isn’t running wild.

Kiffin has done an incredible job given the resources he has to work with in the NIL era in a really tough conference.

The question with him was never whether he had the ceiling to be a great coach, its whether he could keep it together off the field and he appears to have matured enough to coach at the P5 level.

But...

He doesn't really beat the good teams.

His best win this year is against Kentucky who really should've beaten them.

He's the most consistent winner at Ole Miss since....

well, I'm not old enough to remember anyone better.

Certainly struggled in his early years, but seems to have it figured out now.

Counting Florida Atlantic, he's finished with double digit wins three times in five seasons with programs that rarely, if ever get there. Will likely make it 4 in 6 this year.

Honestly, for a guy who had everyone doubting your own head coach (who was also a proven winner), seems like you'd stay away from this one.

Exactly, Auburn isn’t a destination job. Only truly elite programs can go out and pull a coach from a destination job.

Aranda
Stoops
Rhule
Mullen
Meyer
Dykes
Bielema
-
to name a few.

All better coaches than Lane but they lack hilar tweets with a super duper cute pupper!

Sure it is. Who has ever been hired away from Auburn?

He’s unquestionably a great offensive coach. Just go back and look what he did with converged RB Blake Sims when he was OC at Alabama.

I think his appeal is his potential. He’s brash, aggressive, and relates to players well. He’s been close in several games against better teams, and sometimes it just takes that one win to get over the hump and gain confidence.

As a Bama fan, can’t say I’m thrilled about him potentially being at Auburn. He will be able to get better players, particularly in defense, than he has been able to at Ole Miss. and he’s done pretty well in recruiting there.

I think this is his biggest asset. He builds his offense around the strength of the players he has at that time. Changes season to season and week to week.

I think a lot of it is that he generates a lot of buzz too. Press conferences, quotes to the media, twitter presence, etc...

Which was Malzahn's biggest fault IMO.

At Auburn he has Georgia and Florida to recruit from. And he will recruit.
My worst nightmare.

What has he done? Seriously?
He been able to recruit talent to ole miss and compete well in the toughest division in football. He has proven he can use the transfer portal to quickly infuse ready to play talent into a team. He has experience and success as a hc and connections throughout all levels of coaching for hiring and recruiting. All of these things make him a good fit for any team that has fired a coach.
