It was obvious the panthers weren't gonna risk getting their #1 draft choice injured on a running play in the first pre-season game.

As good as Cam's pass rating was, we all know he didn't win the heisman based on being a pocket passer.

Impressive, adequate, whatever word you choose to describe it........I'd say he did well considering they didn't let him run over a few DB's.

He did fair for a first outing.

Dropped passes, some overthrown. Fans excited, Cam should do fine as he progresses.

Ziemba played on 2nd string O Line had an offside....shocker right?

I don't know about Pugh, or adams I had to go for a bit and didn't finish the game.

Other than that how did Ziemba do? You can still play well even with a false start.

Newton looked very average. Lots of games ahead of him to improve though.

Of course you still can play well. I wasn't paying attention to him so much I cannot say. They will rerun the game tomorrow at noon on NFL channel.

"I made a mistake watching him throw in warmups. Once the game started, he threw the ball really well. I was surprised how accurate he was. He passed well, he stayed in the pocket, and with experience and more reps, you can see him becoming a franchise-type quarterback. I was expecting him to run out of the pocket, but he didn’t. A lot of rookies, especially if they ran a lot out of the spread in college, you expect to take off. But he didn’t do that. He stayed in and did a good job of throwing the ball.”

— Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, who sent a lot of blitzes at the rookie.
