As a lifelong AU man, I appreciate the honest opinion, but I disagree personally.
He was a freakish athlete at QB and Malzahn caught lightning in a bottle with him at a time when that was the perfect fit for his system, and the supporting cast was in place.
One ridiculously great season should not get you into the HOF anywhere.

That's really all he did in CFB, then he was a good, not great NFL QB.

IMHO that doesn't really earn you a spot in the CFB HOF.

Joe Burrow and LSU will always have the greatest season in college football history.

Well you backtracked hard on that one. Went from only 2019 to “the last 5 years”

I’m so tired of seeing Bama fans post this shite.

Dude was a starter for one season. IDGAF how great that season was, that’s not First Ballot HOF territory.

Sorry.

Friendly reminder that Nick Saban lost the first and last games he ever coached in Tiger Stadium.

I might be mistaken, but Nick Saban's first game as a head coach in Tiger Stadium was a 28-13 win over Houston. The first time he ever coached against LSU in Tiger Stadium, he won the game by a score of 27-21.

Barely beat a Joker UK team. That will keep you out of lots of things.

I believe it should in college, not necessarily the NFL. In fact, I think being a Heisman winner should be an automatic entry.

But I agree with what someone else said earlier. All of Cam’s bullshite isn’t helping his cause. It may or may not have mattered one bit in this instance - but it’s definitely not helping.

Joe Burrow had a retinue of future NFL stars on his team. Cam Newton had himself.

So you a guy has a great season but it's not him, it's the TEAM? Somehow I got a feeling this is just an LSU thing with you bama fans.

Newton was unstoppable that season and he had very little around him.

He’s a weird arse dude, but he should be a first ballot CFB HOFer.

And that’s being generous. Every LSU fan on this site is stuck in 2019. But the good news is maybe they don’t remember Covid happening

I can understand the optics not looking right, but honestly he only had the one really great year. I think he only played in a handful of games the 2 previous years. He was all world his last year though. Even if he flies around on a broom now.

What a truly awful take. Lots of mid quarterbacks win an NFL mvp. Also won a natty in his other season as a starter
