I disagree with that. I think some people in this thread are very young. There have been some amazing seasons in college football.

I never claimed either Cam or Tebow was the GOAT period, but they are the top 2 based on players I've seen in my lifetime, which means I am younger.

But I like my history as much as the next person, my favorite/greastest RB duo played in the '40s...

And when you spent one semester on campus, it is hard to say you are the greatest player in a lifetime. Tebow started 3 years and had to adjust to different OL, different receivers, playing with the hype of a Heisman target on his back for 2 years, etc. Cam did some amazing things, but plain and simple.......Tebow was better and did it the right way as an outstanding spokesman for his university, his faith, and the game of college football.
Put me into the Tebow column between the two of them. From the stats posted, they are pretty close but when you add Tebow's character and leadership on and off the field, he hands down gets my vote.

Granted AU's O Line was experienced and good, but the top end of their talent - from a potential and NFL perspective - is young. How many of the four draft eligible linemen were picked? How high? How about the three draft eligible receivers Cam had to work with? Where were they picked?

Cam did not have a first rnder on the o-line. Tebow did. Cam didnt have a first rnder at receiver. Tebow did. cam didnt have a defense around him with multiple higj draft picks on it. Tebow did.

We can go all day. Cam had less talent around him than Tebow did, which makes what Cam did all the more amazing. Without Tebow florida still wins East. Without Cam AU is 5th in west last yr with loses to MSU, Ark, LSU, & Bama (and maybe USCe & Clemson too).

Cam only had one year to account for, so I took Tebows best year also. Get over your insecurities. Cam was a great player. He isn't the greatest of all time. There are ALOT of others that are on the same level, maybe a few over it.

Lulz, I already said I don't think Cam is the best ever. BTW, Cam won his Heisman while also winning a NC with a worse defense and less playmakers.

Again, if you're going to take Heisman years into account, make sure to include that Cam won a NC with less playmakers and a worse defense.

You also have to take the OL into account. Plus your rush defense was very good.

Cam was incredible last year. But as another poster stated, people seem to think the latest event was the greatest.

If Cam had destroyed Oregon, then I would also give him more points. The biggest game he ever played was owned by Dyer, the OL, and Fairley. The biggest college game VY played was one of the greatest performances ever. His Bowl game the year before was amazing. Cam basically showed up to the biggest game he ever played. Cam did carry the team there but his final game wasn't what the world expected.

Agree I don't thnk you can call Cam the best because he went undefeated I. One season with only that season to look at, hell GM was undefeated as a qb until SC and he wasn't in the same league as Cam. I was young when Walker was playing but do remember Bo. In my lifetime based on who I would want to lead my team and his whole body of work and who is was it would have to be Tebow. Florida definitely had better skill position players but Auburn OL was still one of the best in cfb. IMO Nick Fairly was a much bigger factor in the comeback over Alabama than Newton was who statistically in that game Alabama controlled very well.

Exactly. There are dozens of players in that category. You could make an argument for all of them. There have been tons of dominant players at the college level in the last 10-15 years. Guys like Cam, Tebow, Young, etc just get the most publicity because they played QB in offenses that were designed to focus on them.

All joking aside, Did Cam really deficate on the field in Tuscaloosa?

Ok, this is the 3rd time I've stated that I don't think Cam is the best ever. Just so everyone can see.

Auburn might prove this year their own argument in this thread. How many games does that team lose last year without Newton (cannot refer to him as Cam) last year? They would have been irrevelant.

Not really we prove the argument how much we lose without an experienced offensive line, dominant QB, experienced defense etc.

But they were still awesome college players. AU was very good everywhere except the defensive backfield which was pretty bad. Beyond that, their OC is fantastic. If you want to take the OC into account, then VY saved the job of Greg Davis. Colt McCoy saved it longer but Greg Davis is awful. Gus versus Greg isn't even close.

Florida was good on the OL. Auburn had a fantastic unit though with great experience.

Tebow had more talent. I agree if you had put Harvin and Cam, then it would have been crazy. Auburn had plenty of talent, great OL, good skill players, and an amazing OC. They're both incredible.
