they DO NOT GIVE CASH. the IRS stopped that a few years ago. it is also a REQUIREMENT that the church give any donar over a certain limit (i think it $250 or close) a statement IN WRITING acknowledging the donation and that is the basis for the tax deduction. my chuch gives me one every year and they started doing it when the IRS required it.

The tax law has also required, for many, many years, that everyone who has income from whatever source declare it on a tax return and to the extent that net income exceeds certain minimum amounts, to pay tax on it. How's that working out with the "underground economy"? Just because the law requires it doesn't mean that either the donor or the donee is going to create a public record to trace what could readily be identified as an illegal bribe.

I'm no financial expert, but couldn't Cecil Newton have just taken out a loan to do the $50,000 in necessary repairs? Why does everyone assume the money is dirty? People/businesses need large sums of money all the time, and last time I checked a loan was a pretty common and legal way to get sudden influx of funds.

Tight economy. Cecil would have to show several months of bank account statements to secure a loan, which with no congregation, no income would be shown.

No income, no loan.

Also, with a loan, all the repairs would have had to be done once. Not over three separate months.

Appears that the deal for Cam was performance based.

OK, so a loan seems unlikely in your mind. What about the idea, according the new AJC article, that he got the money from Cecil Jr who had a contract in the NFL?

Edit: Here's a LINK to that article.

2) Rogers was "helping" to place Cam, only to claim he never had any contact with the school that Cam eventually went to. WTF? How does that work exactly?

If Rogers does "help place players", I doubt it's out of the goodness of his heart. He has to be getting paid from someone.

I was wondering why Cam Newton would come to a shitty university like Auburn. Now I know what it takes for players to come play there, $200,000.

That son was on the practice squad for 2009, was cut in August. He had no income, either

You seem to know an awful lot about the financial status of the Newton's. How do you know Cecil Jr has no income? Or does it just fit with your story better to assume that every member of the Newton family sits on their arse and does nothing?

You ought to know by now that LSU/Alabama fans are experts on EVERYTHING, and especially something as simple as the financial status of people they've never met.

Why do you say Cecil does not have a income just because his church is empty? He also owns a construction company.

According to ESPN.com, the N.C.a.a. contacted Cecil Newton about a month ago, requesting financial documents. he told the news outlet that he submitted bank statements and other records related to the church. Newton also owns a construction company, according to news reports.

Everyone who knows anything is, as of now, saying that Auburn and Cam are in good shape.

Subject to change, but good news.

Cam better go Pro if he is a cheater..If not, he better go Pro anyway, because where there is smoke, there usually is fire.

And he will get cat calls from now on.

good news indeed. I'd like to see him win the heisman and for Auburn to continue to win and play Oregon.

LATE BREAKING NEWS:

This is all a big misunderstanding. Cecil just wanted Newton to make it as an NFL qb. He thought that getting him a paycheck made him a prostyle qb.

Aren't some people saying Cecil Newton hired an NFL agent to help with the construction ?
