Auburn is the key. if they can get by Auburn they will be 8-0. I'm not sure they can get by Auburn, though.

Your ill advised opinion on LSU tells me you're not exactly an expert either,by all indications from people who actually know what they're talking about the defense is improved.

Have they ever hired a true "fixer upper" like Steele before?

Pelini was a DC for 1 year at Nebraska in 2003 then was a Co-DC at Oklahoma. He was hardly a known commodity before he got to LSU. But keep thinking that this loaded roster and position coaches will just all of a sudden forget how to play and coach football.

What has this got to do with anything this year?

Do you know any Rolens in Pineville? Or used to be there?

Sell.

This means absolutely nothing to me. Before last year, Mississippi State hasn't beaten LSU in 15 or so years. We all saw how that worked out...in Tiger Stadium.

He has set current expectations in line with past performance. What's so hard to understand about that?

Not hard to understand. Just flawed. What LSU, or anybody else has done 20 years ago, or 1 year ago has absolutely nothing to do with this years game. See the post just above yours regarding Mississippi State. You have a totally different team this year than you had last year. Personally....I think LSU has a great year. I think they will see average to above average QB play and they contend in the West...maybe even win it.

But I certainly do not base that on what they have done over the past 10 years.

While I'm not a fan of the Steele hire, the defense has been extremely salty this offseason

It is about setting expectations. If you beat State every year, you believe that your team has failed to live up to expectations if they lose to them. The poster you were responding to said that the floor for his expectations is 7-1. His reasoning is that he has come to expect that Miles will win every out of conference game, beat State, and beat Auburn at home. You guys are so obsessed with the past performance not necessarily being indicative of future results that you now try to apply to everything like setting expectations.

Tell me this, how do you determine if your favorite team over or under achieved? How do you measure it? Maybe you don't. Maybe you believe your team plays in a series of independent trials which cannot give any context to anything that happened in the past or may happen in the future.

I think if Bama played LSU and Auburn at the same time, they'd lose pretty handily, myself.

So during spring practice? That's not really fair. Any defense would look great vs LSU's O.

Well every offseason prediction usually has past indicators.......half the idiots in this thread point to LSU not having a QB.........How do they know LSU doesn't have a QB "this year"

Graduated with a Nicole Rolens, her pops owned a Trash pickup service

That's not really true. Some defenses give up about 200 yards rushing every time they are on the field with that offense.
