frick off. I was trying to start a serious discussion about the direction of the programs and how they were comparable under coaches with similar personas, although Franklin never was one to build in excuses before losses.

My post about this from a MONTH ago.

This will be his built in excuse every year. He processes a bunch of upperclassmen, signs 35 freshmen, and then says "we're the youngest team in the country."

Well no shite Butch, that's what happens when you dismiss seniors and sign dozens of freshmen!

Franklin and Jones do not have similar personas.

Jones sandbags and tries to avoid giving other teams bulletin board material.

Franklin wasn't shy about pounding his chest.

I look forward to these fine young men "going Peyton" (i.e. graduating without ever beating the Gators).

Depends on the losses, but yes, that would be acceptable to most of our fanbase, for this season. 2016, 5-3 in the SEC is completely unacceptable. We aren't Vandy, no offense

Fair enough, even the Vandy insult. Franklin's classes were never 50th, 48th, and 26th ranked classes in the country according to 247. Butch's have been much higher rated. Your trajectory SHOULD continue much higher. Franklin was bouyed by some exception diamond's in the rough like Matthews, Stacy, Krause, Boyd, Hal, Hayward, and others who played well above their recruiting ranking. As a program, you all still have clout to bring in great players even when your team is horrid. Vandy was trying to build a program reputation under Franklin. Unfortunately, one terrible incident ruined it while he was still here, and what appears to be a star-chasing recruiting strategy has damaged it even more now that he's hit it and quit it.

I think Franklin is a better coach than Jones tho, even if he is a scumbag motherfricker.

Really? Have you seen his Penn State teams? He's ruining a sure-fire 1st rounder in Hack. I think Franklin's best skill is lighting a fire under people's asses and getting them to punch above their weight. I'm not sure that flies at a power program like Penn State or UT.

I meant the "used car salesman" label both have earned. They can get their players to buy into anything. You're right though that Butch is not as brazen with the media as CJF was. It's weird how they were both opposite of their fan bases. Franklin was energetic and ready to fight anyone while most of us were going "Is this guy crazy?!" Butch is trying to pull the reigns back on the hype train that has spiraled out of control in some pockets of the UT fanbase.

"We have 65 individuals playing in the CBS game of the week for the first time."

Just shut the frick up and win, Butch.

Some coaches take young teams and win championships.

Other coaches take young teams, complain every year and lose a lot.

I cant wait for the game and see the expressions on UTs fans as they watch our defense smother everything. Watch the UK game for a great example and just watch the defense...the offensive output was not good.

Against UK our defense had to keep trotting out there with a slim lead and they refused to budge....and our lead was because of Hargreaves pick and return of 53 yds. Your OL is better than UKs but not that much better. UK is not a bad team at all...but we held their offense to 240 yds total and Towles was 8 for 24.

Smoothie better have max protection or he is going to be prone most of the game.

Fair point. He may be a better motivator than Jones.

Penn State will likely never be a power program again, though. The Sandusky scandal may have killed them.

Sounds like you would hire Franklin if Butch can't cut it.

I dont think the scandal put them under like many thought. But Big10 expansion did. With Rutgers and Maryland now in the same conference, and Meyer being a ruthless recruiter, PSU lost the edge they had in a lot of the northeast.

Pretty sure their defense struggled all last year, and this year let Akron do some pretty heavy damage. Oklahoma is not that good. New QB came on the road and beat you from a team that couldn't beat a ranked team last year.

Hurd was the first RB to rush for more than 100yds against OU since 2013. Your argument is retarded

Tennessee is the Dorain Grey of college football.

Auburn 3 seniors starters from that abortion known as the 2012 recruiting class also.

Butch Jones has no excuse to lose this game. He has the players to run the type of offense he wants to run, and his defense "should" be good enough to slow Florida down considering their quarterback situation.

Butch Jones is a guy who has piggy-backed on the coattails of other's success. It says it all when he hires a guy he use to work for to run his offense.

If he can't put up at least 9 wins in the current state of the SEC east, and considering now Arkansas isn't nearly as good as some of us thought, then he just flat out doesn't have it.

The only other two excusable losses left on UT's schedule are Georgia and Alabama. That should result in a 9-3 season.

Florida's situation isn't a QB situation, is a OL situation. Our QBs are solid.
