Bucky comes from a neighborhood/area with more money than any place in College Station

That oil money will not be able to tell him what to do. This is a bad marriage. Bucky is James Bond like being hired by a program that brags on queer fruitcakes being cheerleaders.
He will be gone within 2 years for a better job that does not have San Francisco type men as cheerleaders.
Shocking that AM fans put up with these terrible traditions that no other school would have.

Sounds like somebody's mama got caught fricking the milkman.

I do wonder about guys like Bucky leaving home for the first time at 41.
He grew up in Mountain Brook, played at Birmingham Southern, coached at Mountain Brook, and then coached at Samford.
He’s been 20 minutes from his mom and his childhood bedroom his entire life.
Now he’s uprooting his family to live hundreds of miles away.

He is an elite coach.

If you got paid for all 1,023 threads you’ve made in under a two year span, you could live there.

So UAB is his dream job

The Mountain Brook of every big city in Texas is considerably higher end than Mountain Brook (and I like Mountain Brook)
I think the Ags will be able to manage

Name those neighborhoods?

What a weird OP.
“Nowhere in Texas is going to have bagels as good as Homewood Bagel Company!!”

Being successful and getting a huge raise must've been the reason to go to Texas A&M. That's life folks!

Park Cities
River Oaks
[Insert Austin Equivalent]
[Insert San Antonio Equivalent]
Not really a slight, but expecting the wealthiest hood in Birmingham to compare favorable to much larger cities just doesn't make sense.

Hope Bucky does well at aTm. He’s our coach in waiting if Oats ever goes to the NBA, so glad he is getting SEC experience.

Ever been to Mountain Brook? At one point per capita had more wealth than Beverly Hills. Rich but racist.

So is he just supposed to stay at a small private school because it’s next to another small town with a lot of rich people?
A&M fans should be more concerned he never left the area or coached at any other college besides Samford - a small private Christian university. Right after college 2 years as an assistant followed by 13 years as the head coach at his high school alma mater before moving next door to coach for 5 seasons at Samford.
It’s a high risk high reward hire.
You hope you pay these ADs to be able to make good hires from smaller schools or from assistants at larger schools (or Pros) instead of having to throw $100 million at a big name to make a safe hire, but I am not sure that’s Trevor Alberts. I know that it isn’t our AD. Scott couldn’t find a diamond in the rough if fell out of his fat rolls. He has to overpay established coaches with large guaranteed retirement contracts.

Aggies are ok with the hire. Probably not paying a high salary, not a tired old retread, and if he doesn't work out we can replace him in a couple of years.
Do like his basketball style philosophy. Very few are sad to see Buzz leaving. Buzz wanted a big extension and hadn't earned it.
