Brooks may be onto something about players using likeness to sell a product...
...and apparently, its much more rampant than anyone can imagine. I mean look at all this pics below where CFB players agree to have their image and/or likeness to sell a product.

Nice...
But there is a difference from a picture and a signature... there is a difference from an article an dinner with someone... there is a difference between a picture and giving your memorbablia away (signed)...

If memory serves me, that lovely young lady married a former UA tightend from Elmore County, Alabama.

I guess you could add games being on tv as well as highlights and interviews on ESPN if you want to go full retard.

NCAA bylaws don't say anything about, unless it's a magazine cover

quote:

12.5.2.1 Advertisements and Promotions After Becoming a Student-Athlete. After becoming a student-athlete, an individual shall not be eligible for participation in intercollegiate athletics if the individual: (a) Accepts any remuneration for or permits the use of his or her name or picture to advertise, recommend or promote directly the sale or use of a commercial product or service of any kind.

Well, I guess we should shut down message board sites, bloggers, newspapers, tv channels, and magazines then yeah?

I have a feeling that Mr. Johnston would do alright in an engagment of fisticuffs with Mr. Dansby.

Sorry, it was hard for me to tell it was a joke. I think the lack of humor threw me off.

It'd be a fun fight to see. Johnston was listed at 6'4" 240. Dansby is 6'4" 250.
