This is actually mis-quoted on a regular basis. This is the amount of scholarship players that played in the Texas Bowl. Some of those players graduated, quit or transferred. Kelly as LSU coach only had about 25 scholarship players at the beginning of his tenure at LSU.

Unless LSU played the season with 39 players the OP is lying. I have seen more than one LSU fan claim that Kelly coached the season with 39 players, too.

I've heard from 68-72. Also heard on the radio at lunch that he had 47 scholarship players when they got back from the bowl game and that's what he began with.

LSU is a powerhouse and won Championship not too long ago. Plus, one of the better recruiting grounds around.
