Well yeah, because he hasn't coached at LSU yet.
That's been a common theme from our last three coaches.
LSU takes average guys and turns them into champions.
Aggie takes champions and turns them into average guys.

Four of those five will probably still win national championships at LSU. Two already have. Tells you how strong LSU is as an athletic institution that coaches you consider train wrecks still win national championships there.

No, but history has shown that any team needs to average ~Top 5 classes in the previous 4 years to go to a national championship. There have only been a couple outliers that haven’t in the history of the CFP.
The exceptions to that rule have actually been 2014 Oregon and Clemson who actually averages between a 10-15 class rank. LSU also traditionally does “more with less” in that regard but they are still usually average top 7ish every year in recruiting when they are good.
