He didn't say he hates the spread. He said he runs "normal american football" and the thing about the HUNH in separate instances...the tweet is kind of misleading

I said this in the thread that got whacked, but I thought he gave the best interview of any of the coaches so far at media days.

I had never seen him speak publicly but came away impressed with his confidence and passion.

Yes! I'm biased of course but I can see how players would want to play for him. Very down to earth. He killed that interview.

Was just thinking how nice it would be to chant "Normal Football" to him after Gus runs him out of RRS.

You say that as if Au is sure Win at Ark. While Bret is a huge douchebag that doesn't mean he's going to be a lousy coach and that Ark is going suck worse than Au next year. That game as of now is, at best, a toss up for AU. With game being at Ark most would have them as the favorite by 4-7 points and I'm sure the Ark faithful would want to win this game vs a Gus led Au more than any other on the schedule.

Thanks for the clarification.

HUNH = Spread, apparently.

I knew Bama fans would understand the difference.
I'm not a big fan of the hurry up to the line - get set - do the meercat to the sideline - get the flashcard read - get set again - snap the ball offense either.

But, it's here in the SEC now and the better coaches will do like they always do, they will adapt, evolve, and overcome or they will get the boot.

that at least gives time for the defenders to catch their breath... and avoid a certain death, as Bert would have you believe.

I thought Bert was fine with spread offenses, he just doesn't care for the HUNH????

That fact is a little too complicated for some to grasp.

For the record, I'm not biased. Honestly, I thought he was a horrible hire because he didn't have built-in connections with Texas high schools. I'm not ready to say he was a good hire, but I can definitely believe that he hit a home run in the hiring interview.

That being said Arkansas' schedule is freaking brutal for a guy looking to rebuild a program.

True. I agree with the talking head that said it's a 3 yr project. We'll see.

He doesn't have to "rebuild a program," we had one bad year.

I think he is a great hire - he's an experienced coach that can run a big program - he's a proven winner - he hired a great supporting staff - he wants to bring structure and discipline to the program that is badly needed.

JMHO, but I feel like he's the best new hire in the SEC. His W-L record may not surpass Gus or Butch this year, but pound for pound I think Jeff Long & Co did good.

True but he's changing things up philosophy wise and I think that's what Gerry meant.
