This is correct. I couldn't stand Clinton or Obama, but I was in a building with Clinton when I was only 18 years old. I was smart enough even then to know how to act. I treated the office with the respect it deserves, and I didn't boo. I stood when I was supposed to, remained quiet when I was supposed to, and even clapped when I was supposed to. And all of this was while the man was being impeached for actually committing felonies after having been caught boinking a young intern in the white house.
Still, you respect the office, whether your respect the man/woman or not. Liberals only (pretend to) understand this during the few unfortunate stints when they actually get someone in the WH.

As a sidenote, Southerners express a lot more overt racism, but are much more likely to swallow their prejudice and interact with different races for practical purposes. In other parts of the country, you will find people who express a lot of inclusiveness and tolerance in word, but who are really NIMBYs who are scared shitless of the other outside of ethnic food.
