take a run at some of the eastern Big 12 teams

I always thought West Virginia would’ve made a better fit in the ACC than the Big 12. They’d have their rivalries with Pitt and VT again. Traveling must be a pain for them already, and it’s going to get worst more PAC12 teams join the Big 12.

Thanks for the info. I once saw something about how bad the academics are for the bottom half of the Pac. Got some of the schools mixed up.

That was before the ACC invited Louisville when they still pretended to care about athletics.

Too bad the Big XII already watered down their league with a bunch of Conference USA teams—that would have been a decent group.

Yes, the only one of those expansion teams I’d want now (if I were picking for the Big 12) is BYU. BYU fits nicely with the 4 PAC teams.

Wait, so you went to a CU game in Denver? At Mile High? Or you just really don't know shite about CU Boulder and how the setting and atmosphere beats the shite out of Colonoscopy Station ?

Don't underestimate the alumni of other state schools blocking some of the deals for Colorado, Washington, Oregon... CSU, WSU, and OSU will not want to be left out.

Washington State has zero political clout. It’s over by Idaho and their alums are more likely to go to Boise than Olympia.

Oregon State and Colorado State, you are right. And where do the service academies land? If you are looking at TV deals, all three D1 service academies have some national clout.

Washington State and Oregon State will likely be the losers in this whole thing. Kansas State, Texas Tech and Iowa State may survive because they are in the Big 12, who seems to be making a good play this week.

As of July 1, Iowa State no longer holds AAU status. They got kicked out. They better hope the Big 12 stays together.

The Big 12 is going to have some really shitty academic schools. 5 of the 6 lowest rated Power 5 schools (hello my alma mater Mississippi State) by USNWR are Big 12 schools.

None of the in-state politics is going to stop a school desired by one of the 2 power conferences from joining. If it didn't stop OU from leaving OK State, it's not going to matter out west either.

I agree, but there will be a push. Virginia and Virginia Tech have a law that requires them to stay together. It can be rescinded but it’s on the books.

Mississippi should pass that law next year.

If they get four of those that's 20. If they want 24 then they might consider:

Duke
Miami
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Arizona State
Colorado
Utah

GA Tech will be a target

the question is, do we want to lock them down and own the Georgia market, or do we want to let them go B1G and cede a footprint into our territory

I’d rather bring the Yellow Jackets into the conference, it eliminates the @in state P5 rival game for us and reinvigorates several old rivalry games

Wreck Tech week at Auburn plus the Yellow Jackets are even in the official Alabama fight song…

Spoken like someone who has never been to a game in Boulder. I've been twice. The football stadium sucks, and it's probably their best facility. They don't even play baseball. They really were a good fit in the Pac-12, because that is a cheap arse league. They would have a hard time keeping up with their old Big XII brethren and couldn't possibly hope to keep up with SEC or Big 10 schools.
