Focus buddy. Stay on topic. You can do it.

When was the last time a national champion didn’t go to a bowl the following year?

Of all the trolls you could have made with this, you go and take the only path that doesn't make sense.

LSU was bowl eligible this year and with a .500 record they would have been in a non-COVID season too.

All you had to do was ask when the last time defending champ couldn't go bowling the next year because they were trying to avoid even harsher penalties for cheating and you would've had a winner.

So LSU scared to play anyone? That seems even worse.

Nope. They beat UVA in the Peach Bowl that year. Went 3-9 in 2012. I'm going to guess 1981 champ Clemson who went 9-1-1 in 1982 and was set to play 10-0-1 SMU in the Cotton, but they decided to take a bowl ban because of an ongoing NCAA investigation.

Doesn’t count but Texas played for the NC in 2009 and went 5-7 in 2010.
