guess we can go back one Bama title if you want.
The further back you go, the worse is looks for you, but that game is perfect for my point as that represents how things used to be, and back to back represents how things are now.

Kirby has acquired multiple 5-star QBs in his tenure at Georgia and never won anything with them at the helm.
Alabama landed the #1 overall recruit in the Class of 2020 turning him into a Heisman winner and #1 overall draft pick.
Georgia finally won a title(s) with a walk-on leading the team.
Winning titles is more than just talent acquisition. It's finding talent that fits within your scheme.
More than that though is finding coaches to teach your scheme effectively to your players.
That is where Kirby held an advantage over Saban the last 2 years.
The only 5 star 'acquired' by Kirby that he didn't win anything with was Fields, and even if he did stay 3 years he wouldn't have won anything anyhow.
Eason was recruited and signed by Richt before he was fire about 60 days prior to signing day
So basically this is Kirby's second #1 5 star QB signed out of HS. Maybe this one will make it to year 2
btw - did Bama just have the #1 former recruit be taken #1 in the draft (first Bama player in 70 something years?) and not even win or come close to winning a Natty? I can understand why you'd cope with a lame projection

Downturn you say. That's some dumb shite right there. You'd shite yourself for that downturn.

The main difference between the 2 programs since 2021 is the level of player development. UGA is simply developing players and depth to perfection right now. Not the only example but has been highly evident at the WR position. Bama gets the more highly ranked recruits and rides them and hopes they don’t go down. Kirby gets 9-11 involved every game whether it is a blowout or a nail biter thru the 4th quarter. As of late, he is simply preparing his players better to be ready when called on.

Kelly will outcoach both, with similar talent. So there's that.

"I mean, we sure are making a lot of radical assumptions based on one win.
I understand that Alabama just had a two-loss season, but Kirby is still 1-4 overall.
For comparison purposes, Georgia had two losses in 2019 and dropped the SECCG by four touchdowns (to LSU)."
Sometimes it takes a little while to get to where you need to be.
Saban had been a head coach for over a decade by the time he got to Alabama with a national championship to boot.
Kirby had to learn those lessons while also trying to win national titles. Saban started at places that didn't expect that.
Also, when Saban came to Alabama, it helped that Urban kind of went to shite after 2009, so that he really had no competition other than LSU's occasional championship type team that crops up every five to six years or so. Unfortunately, Auburn pulled a cloverleaf out of their rear for two seasons in the midst of mediocre football.
Kirby had to beat Saban when he was still at his height and showing no signs of slowing down while Kirby had lesser talent and less experience.
He's finally got the program where it's simply reload. Has anyone reloaded better than Kirby last year?
15 players lost in the draft including five on the first day, no portal players and ends with a 15-0 record and a national title playing 3 top 6 teams, and 7 total ranked in the final poll.

Interested to hear your take on the 2021 national title game then.
I don't know many Georgia fans that refer to that as a blowout.

If you look at the bottom of your recruiting rankings, our players are rated worse than yours.
We're getting more out of those bottom players than you are yours. This isn't close.
Our leading WR was just as good statistically as any of your last season. He only got an offer to Vandy among other power 5 programs.
Our 3 star safety won MVP in both playoff games.
We've got a three star DB and a three star DL that went in the first round in the 2021 and 2022 draft.
We have a three star LBer that was all conference and made a couple of All American teams.
And of course, our two star out of high school and 3 star JUCO transfer won four playoff MVPS, was a Heisman finalist and won two national championships.

Yet Georgia still managed to get blown out in their own backyard during the SEC championship despite Saban having two of the worst coordinators in his tenure at Bama.

Alabama is 3 years out from winning a natty, beat the eventual natty winner pretty handidly 2 years ago losing in the natty to the same team and lost 2 games that could have easily been wins last year which would have put Alabama right in the middle of the playoff picture. If Saban were 60 years old and it was any other program which had not dominated CFB like Bama has for the last 15 years or so no one would be talking about Alabama's "demise". What Smart has done at UGA is incredible and as long as Smart has the desire to continue doing it at that level UGA may seriously be on a Alabama/Saban type run, time will tell, but counting Alabama out is a mistake...if they lose 2 this season by more than 4 points combined they may be on the slide but it is way too early and the roster is way too stacked to rest easy with Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa.

Georgia and Bama have been close ever since Kirby took over at Georgia. For the 2024 class, he is significantly ahead (Georgia #4, Bama #20)...but that class doesn't sign until next February.
It seems to me, and I could be completely off base, but Alabama is about where they are every year in May...it seems like they are notorious for making huge strides down the stretch. Again I may be wrong...

Judging from the amount of excuses and butt hurt in this thread, this place is going to lose its goddamned mind when we 3 peat. I just hope it’s Bama we get to kick the shite out of in the SECCG.

This. Come February it will look different. Not sure how different, but Alabama will be at or near the top again.
