Both Arkansas QB's from last year transferred. And neither won their starting jobs.

For those wondering why our offense sucked so bad last year, here is the reason.

Ty Storey, who started 9 games last year, transferred to Western Kentucky. It was announced today he will be the backup.

Cole Kelley, who started 2 games, transferred to FCS Southeastern Louisiana, and it was just announced he'll be the backup there.

There ya have it. We lost by 7 points to A&M and LSU, with 2 QB's that couldn't even start at WKU and SE Louisiana.

Who knows what Ben Hicks/Starkel will do this year, but they will be 1000% of an improvement over what we had.

Cole Kelly not being able to find an FCS team where he can start is kind of surprising.

He took a shot and it backfired.

I like how #90 can't believe what he just saw either.

I mean he transferred to a team that returned a senior starter, a guy who started in 2018 as a transfer from Fresno State

Plus Kelley was just never really any good. Dude is just a big bulldozer pretending to play QB

The thing that perplexed me about him is he would throw a dime of a long bomb perfectly in stride and look like an NFL QB on one play...and the next 5 throws would be 20 yards off target. It was fun watching him plow into people though. He was actually a pretty reliable short yardage hammer last year at times.

We didnt recruit him at all, but that also had to do with his off-field issues which seemed to come up at Arkansas as well. In reality he wa sjust a really big kid with a big arm but never was a true QB. If he was a little more athletic he could have made a TE potentially, but his mobility in pocket made fat NFL Jamarcus Russell look good

Now this is a fan I can get behind. Just absolutely reaching for a reason on why Arkansas will be improved from last year. Had they only been able to find a QB who was good enough to start at SE Louisiana or Western Kentucky.

Well we had the ball with 2 minutes to go against A&M but Storey threw a pick on that final drive

LSU still only beat us by 7, with QB's that couldn't start at FCS schools.

Do we win those games with Starkel or Hicks last year? Maybe.

Hate to break it to you but Starkel lost a qb battle at another school. That’s why we got him.

There's a difference between losing a QB battle to Kellen Mond (a pretty good college QB) after a coaching change and losing a QB battle to a Western Kentucky or SELA QB.

That doesn't sound like a reach at all. Seems like a valid reason why a team might suck that has D2 level QBs on an SEC team.

Sure, but Ben Hicks was ranked 75th by Athlon. We’re going from god awful to just regular bad. I guess that’s a win.

And here I was thinking our main problem for the last 3 goddamn years is that our offensive line sucks in the worst way imaginable. Just before we had these two shitheads we had Austin Allen and while I know he didn't get much love from Hogs fans, he WAS recruited by Petrino who once remarked he should be rated a 5*. I guarantee you that if Petrino had been around still Austin Allen would have looked like a frickin super hero. Instead, he got his damn head caved in on every other snap.

ETA: Point being, it isn't gonna matter who the QB is this year or any other year when you consistently field the worst offensive line in the history of organized football at any level.

Hell, Alabama recruited Storey to play for them. Bet he wishes he had signed with Sabans about now. He may have been a damn super hero too in the right offense. Getting butt-rammed 35 times per game tends to set a player back, I think.
