There's a slight difference between a photo op and a speech and putting your entire legacy on a campus.

I just spent 45 minutes driving 8 miles to get home. It took me 20 minutes just to get off campus. They've got cops at all of the major intersections blocking access to campus, which I get, but why the frick is anyone headed to campus in the first place? Why isn't every goddamn radio and TV station in Brazos County telling people to stay off the roads.

All of the traffic on University headed west from the bypass is being forced by the cops to turn on Texas, but they're letting them go south or north (away from campus), and most of them are going south. That's also a street bordering campus. It's no less "on-campus" than University, and because of these assholes bringing Texas to a standstill (and clogging the intersection of Texas and University), those of us on University, trying to get off-campus, couldn't get anywhere.

Jesus Christ, we've got the Texas Transportation Institute on campus. These are supposed to be some of the biggest experts in the country at moving people, and this is the best that we can do?

The smart evacuees are the ones who hoofed it over to the bars on Northgate. The roof of the campus bar was packed. I've got to move back to main campus, so I can get shitfaced during the next bomb threat!

USAF Chief of Staff and a General from 1 Marines are (were) on campus today.

Easterwood has now halted air traffic in and out.

With the rash of bomb threats, I understand that colleges across the nation are populated with idiot students who panic when they aren't prepared, but the tin foil hat side of me says this many threats seem to be a probe by some bad guys.

Could be a sly way of testing how prepared our universities are.

According to things I've read, they've kicked the media off campus and are kicking the people out of Spence, I'm watching the KBTX live stream to see if they say anything more about that.

Watching the stream, there's not a soul moving at Spence Park, every now and then there will be someone on the Kyle Field side of the road.

In this day of pre-paid/disposable cell phones, these are only going to get more and more common. Campus is just over 5,200 acres. God only knows how long it would take to properly search for a bomb.

No fricking way they should even consider cancelling the football game over this - unless they know something more than they are saying, and there is reason to take this one more seriously than your average bomb hoax.

KBTX confirmed that they were asked to leave the campus, probably because they showed video of the bomb teams going into Rudder Tower.

No events are officially cancelled, other than the fact that emergency.tamu.edu says that all activites are cancelled until further notice.

Easterwood is closed at this time until the campus is open again.

Threat came from an email.

Why would a "great" (aggy words not mine) military school evacuate? You have a corp of cubets who have let the town of Bryan down if this is true. They should be the ones dealing with this threat.

why would they need to test anything?

pretty much every single sporting event I have ever been to would be easy as all get out to smuggle bad shite into.

That was actually part of why I never bought all the elevated terror level crap during the Bush admin.

If some group REALLY wanted to hit the US the vast majority of sports venues are ducks on the pond.
