Was in Utrecht last weekend, FA Pickles is the shite.

Too many stoned kids though.

I live in Veldhoven.
Never thought I'd see the day a Dutchie wandered onto the Rant...

Welkom op de Rant!

False on both counts.

Texags was crowing how Parker was going to commit and then he doesn't. All of a sudden we are getting ready to offer a JUCO Safety out of Tyler. Funny that.

Tony Brown? - Forget it.

KD Cannon? - Grades/Baylor. No real interest from him.

Jamal Adams? - At one point maybe, but why do you think we moved onto Parker?

Speedy Noil/Willis - Kid is a package deal with Willis. And willis doesn't like the A&M defense.

Nyles Morgan - Maybe. But I'll believe it when I see it. Sure the staff has started to pull people out of Arizona/Louisiana/Cali, but the Midwest has never been an A&M area and Hagen is a dud of a recruiter.

Isn't B Smith the OL from KS? I know UA was looking at him but reports were from camp he was very soft. I may be thinking of someone else but I thought the staff was really high on him until he camped.

Yea. The "looks like Tarzan. Plays like Jane." rule applies. But he's a helluva talent.
Braden Smith and Steven Parker are the only two A&M's got a real shot at.

Parker is supposedly leaning towards OU.

He's walked that statement back.

Word on the street is that Harrison is toying with the idea as well.

I'm not showing them a Texas game.

I don't want them to think that football players are supposed to be soft prima donnas with predilections for homo-erotic behavior.

Live TV would be great.

If ESPN America still existed in Europe and streaming over firstrow didn't suck.

Thx for the suggestions guys.

Now I need to find a source for these torrents.

Suggestions?

I spent about an hour last night perusing kat.ph, but I didn't find any of the games I was looking for with enough seeders.

I thought about youtube, but don't like the quality even with an HD version. Worst case, I'll bring my appletv/ipad, buy a game on ESPN on my ipad and stream it to the TV.

Introducing Europeans to football...

We're having Thanksgiving a day later with some European friends and I've been asked to download a torrent of some college football games to introduce them to the game. I'd like to show them a great game, between two bigger name teams(not OU-BSU), with an exciting player.

I had been thinking about Bama-Auburn 2010 and A&M-Bama 2012, but have been struggling to find them on interwebs to download.

1. Suggestions on games?
2. Sites to download from?
Manziel should win it, but he isn't helping himself with the INT's.

You can blame the defense so much, but I think the INT's are a bigger problem.

If A&M wins out over LSU and Mizzou, I think it's even money he wins it again.

re: Texas To The SEC?

I've posted these thoughts elsewhere...

quote:

Several points regarding the Horns possible move to the SEC...

- Right now the business model of collegiate networks is based on the in-state subscriber rates. This was a major reason why A&M was brought on board because they brought the in-state subscriber rates for Texas. If a la carte programming were to come along that shifts the burden from in-state to national rates and the SEC would have to improve the overall quality of teams as opposed to breadth of the conference. This means teams like OU, FSU, Clemson, Texas, and Miami are much more appealing to the conference than they were two years ago.

- Bama is the King of the Conference. And they want to remain the King. Bringing in Texas who essentially sank the Nebraska Program would not be un-noticed. Now, they can say that "This is a different situation, we'll prevent that from happening", or they can say "Let's just get OU and FSU and not deal with it"...

- Missouri, Arkansas, LSU, and A&M all have reasons to prevent a Texas accession into the SEC (recruiting, bad blood from B12 or SWC). Not saying they will, just that they have reasons. But A&M could be bought out for the right price (ex: On Campus Law School, more equal distro of PUF, etc...). If A&M were to change it's tune it'd probably make accession into the conference a lot easier.

Basically, the conference has to want Texas and A&M has to sign off on it. Not saying A&M holds a veto but there would be a cost/benefit associated with bringing on Texas as opposed to other schools (OU,FSU, etc)
quote:

"Who is Ha Ha Clinton-Dix?" asks B.J. Anderson, A&M's offensive line coach.

"He's the one who knocked the (expletive) out of (Ryan) Swope last year," replies Beaty. "Ha Ha is friggin' good. He can back that name up. I promise you that."

"That a typo on the linebacker?" asks Jeff Banks, the Aggies' first-year special teams coordinator and tight ends coach. "6-6, 252? What the (heck) is that? We got (A&M linebacker Steven) Jenkins coming in at 209."

Interesting read on how A&M prepared for Bama.

Some funny quotes in there.

A BCS win? Better check your facts. With that said Sumlin is a much better coach than Chizik and they will always have an explosive offense. I don't think there will be as much of a drop off. I think losing Evans is tougher. But he has to be careful not to fall in to the Texas Tech mold of all offense no defense. If he can do that he will be fine. I think this year he will probably finish 10-2, and 9-3 next year. Have to remember that both Bama and LSU lose their starting QB's as well

Evans hurts but Ricky Seals Jones will help. Other than that right on.

A&M's offensive success has helped with defensive recruiting, across the board in the state the last two years defensive players are signing up for A&M. This is something that hasn't happened in well over a decade. A&M has effectively cut OU out of Texas and with the concurrent drop in Texas it has given a window of opportunity for A&M to get a larger share of the defensive talent. It used to be A&M's season was made or loss by a Rod Wright. Nowadays it's being made with serious talent signing up across the board.

Sumlin has to continue this trend line. But if he does it's a bright future.

BTW. Anyone ever heard of Case Keenum?

re: If the SEC goes to 16, who do we take?

I think the inventory part of this is really important, and bringing in OU and VPI would really help with that. Increasing the quality of inventory would increase the subscription costs on cable television outside the SEC footprint making up for the lost revenue in bringing in the Oklahoma as opposed to NC.
