Well, it was a combination of things, but #tDecline started with hiring Crowe to finish out the SWC play, then firing him after the first game as a SEC school. Hiring Danny Ford and Houston Nutt to follow didn't help.
But, yes, all the HS coaches in Texas tried to steer recruits away from Arkansas for the first decade, up until we played Texas again. However, we are no longer reliant on Texas recruiting to the extent we were while in the SWC.
OU would have a tough go at it as they even further away from GA, AL, and FL than we are. There is little to no steady stream of talent from AZ, NM, CO, or NB for them, in fact both OK schools have been losing top Tulsa area talent to us for years now, so locking down their own state would have to be first priority.

Hopefully OU doesn't score a single point against the next SEC team they play. Stoops is just mad that his team has been irrelevant for many years now.

OU has been recruiting Cali heavily to make up for what they are losing in Texas, but you are right unlike Arky they don't have too many backup plans.
I hope one day our rivalry gets big enough that it overshadows the RRS, and Arky takes OU's place on the recruiting pecking order.

of course SEC teams have cost him a lot over the last few years; florida denyed them a NC, LSU denyd them a NC; a&m absolutely butt fricked them in their bowl last year. so he's now on an anti-sec campaign that is all smoke and mirrors. the fact is many folks WANT TO BELIEVE HIM and therefore do. all of the big 10 folks (check out their best teams record against the SEC), the PAC folks (ditto) and the ACC folks are all saying their rosaries and lighting candles. the media, of course, is in a popularity contest so they will certainly give the a-hole play.

It was a couple years ago where Bob said a LB we flipped on NSD "wouldn't qualify" to play at OU during his PC, the requirements are actually more laxed in the big12 than they are in the SEC, you may have noticed him making plays on the field last Saturday. He is one butt hurt bitch.

We already have the step up over both programs by having access to the premier stadium in the DFW metroplex while they play in the run down Cotton Bowl that doesn't actually have the Cotton Bowl anymore...
