You mean to tell me that if Oregon would have stopped Auburn from scoring a touchdown then Auburn wouldn’t have scored a touchdown?

Time for Christmas with all these candy and nuts.

I mean he didn’t play great by any means for most of the game, but when the game was on the line, he converted on 4th down with his feet, threw and good pass on 3rd down to get in FG range and then threw a game winner.

Seth Williams just made a play that a good WR makes. It wasn’t like it was terrible play.

Obviously the call was not made to be caught on the 2 yard line so someone didn’t run the right route or the ball was under thrown significantly. Pick your poison but something wasn’t done correctly.

There was 9 seconds on the clock at the end of the play. The clock stops for first downs. Say he was tackled on the two...............you run up and spike the ball then kick the game winning FG.

The only solace the rest of the SEC has is that Gus will ruin him by incessantly teaching him fake passes after handoffs, neglecting true development of real quarterback skills.

The winning TD was basically a Hail Mary jump ball and No. 18 made an athletic play and wanted that ball more, but Nix showed veteran balls and poise on that drive. He was unflappable under big time pressure on the national stage . Props too to Gus for playing for 6 pts instead of a FG try.

Also, frick Auburn.

All I see is 1-0 and a kid who made it happen when it counted. Wasn't pretty, but made it happen.

I will take that because you can see the rest can come together with the intangibles required for the position.

Our OL sucked arse more for 2.5-3 quarters. That is more concerning than what Bo accomplished.

If by "hail mary jump ball" you mean one on one coverage on the outside.......then you nailed it.

Not technically a Hail Mary of course, but it was underthrown and WR had to slow down and high point the ball with almost no time on the clock. So basically a last second chunk it up and pray.

Chill down, I praised Nix. Kid could be very good.

You need to re-watch the play. QB's make that exact throw countless times during a game. You are trying to make it some fluke play.

I keep reading the dumbest crap on here. Oregon was in a defense to not allow Auburn to get a short 10 yard pass for closer field goal range. They guessed wrong and got burned in man coverage with a big receiver for a 50/50 ball.

no it wasn’t. If caught and tackled it is the end of the game.

Are you confused with NFL and NCAA rules?

If so, that was the worst back shoulder throw ever. WR had to slow down and he was inside the CB.

Isn't that exactly how to run a back shoulder throw route?

Your hate is hanging out baw, might want to tuck in it, or put it away on this one.

No where near as polished as Tua and Fromm when they were freshmen.

I guess that’s why Tua didn’t even start his freshman year? Other than the 2nd half of the natty he contributed nothing his freshman year. Even Fromm had to find a way to win against Notre Dame in a similar type game and got blew out on the road in AU his freshman year.

What I saw in the winning pass play was the receiver shielded the defender off with his hip and went up and got the ball. I certainly wouldn’t consider this a 50-50 ball particularly since I believe the receiver had a good height advantage. Plus the ball was thrown high and outside where it was unlikely the defender could intercept.

It was a well thrown ball. Kudos to Nix for putting it together when he had to.

The things I was most impressed with was him not being rattled after all the bad plays and pressure to come back and make the key plays at the end. Plus having the presence to feel the pressure and roll out and throw it away when nothing was there. He needs to work on accuracy but I think alot of that was just being overwhelmed in his first game throwing high alot.
