Saban is not stupid. When you become the Texas coach you have to kiss to much booster behind and the one thing that Saban does not do is kiss jocksniffer behind.

The only way he would have gone was for total control of football operations which meant that he would need control of the "street money" for "operational expenses" and if anyone knows Texas football, that ain't happening.

If Texas really wanted him, he would be there. Alabama cannot touch UT money....they really can't

Tejas is like ANY OTHER big program; start winning games and competing for titles and you are attractive. it's just they, very much like Alabama, then start their "better than thou and always have been" crap. they just disappear when the program is down and when it gets going again act like it never happened.

those arrogant assholes

We have a grad transfer from Texas that started many games for them and was projected to be their starting Center this year. Some Texass media member was asked about him on a local radio station the other day and his response summed up Texas in a nutshell: He was a little undersized there, but maybe he'll be a good fit at Arkansas...the same Arkansas that had the largest oline in football...the same Arkansas team that prison raped them in the trenches a year and a half ago in the bowl game.... It is so absurd that you wonder if it's shtick, but I assure you it's not.

I'll try to explain it to you just like I tried to explain it to people I knew from Texas back when all this went down. You're right, Texas could spend more money on football than Alabama. However, Alabama will spend more money on football then Texas. A subtle, yet crucial, distinction, and the reason why Saban still wears Crimson.

He didn't go to Texas because all you mutton heads forgot to click your heels together when you made the wish.

Why would Saban leave an established power to go to a team that wants their head coach to be more of a fundraiser than a coach.

Im just curious what you think that Texas could offer that Alabama cant. I mean I think its great that Saban turned down more money because he loves being at Alabama but not sure where you are getting this.

Texas couldn't offer more money. Everybody with money in Alabama would give their saving account and first born to keep Saban there.

Cool story bro. But I doubt you're quoting correctly.

Raulerson arrived at Texas undersized (underweight). He never was able to consistently make the starting lineup and tried to go to UCLA. Didn't work out. Arkansas wanted to add depth to their line and gave him a shot.

Post the link though and we can all hear what the guy said.

Didn't quote at all D-bag, hence the absence of quotation marks.

Yeah, I'm going to run and search for a link to a local radio show to justify myself to one of the biggest tools in this forum. Besides, that must be hard to believe. It sounds nothing like the attitude and arrogance of UTexas.

Hey Just, when I first saw his username tailback u, I thought he must be an Alabama fan. I too laughed when I saw he is a barner.

Take a deep breath. I highly doubt that Bill Powers looked this guy from the local paper in the eye and said Saban was a cheater. At best, this is 3rd hand info. There were probably more degrees of separation than that.

We know some big-$ Texas boosters were making serious overtures to Saban's agent. No way that happens if the university leadership thinks Saban is a liability in terms of NCAA exposure.

This really sounds like some garbage talk from a disgruntled booster (who was upset because the hiring of Strong was an embarrassment), so he told someone who told this reporter that Powers never offered because he thought Saban was a cheater.

Yeah, I figured you were pulling this out of your arse.

And you're from Arkansas. How can any other population NOT sound arrogant to you?

I doubt he would have beaten out the true freshman who was supposed to start at C (before he got hurt).

The Texas o-line has been historically bad the last few years. An absolute disaster. When Raulerson did get on the field, he was the bottom of the barrel. He was very highly recruited and by all counts is a great young man. He'll be a success in life, but it will have nothing to do with football.

Nick Saban didn't go to Texas because Nick Saban didn't want to go to Texas.

That's exactly how it happened. Reporting regarding the Texas program almost always works this way. That's why Chip Brown is wrong 99% of the time. There are quite a few really rich boosters, who don't all get along, who are all jealous of each other's power and influence with the program, who all have loose, braggadocios mouths. When they don't get their way, or when they are in the midst of a turf/influence war with other boosters, they talk their spin to a friend, who runs to Chip, or talk to Chip directly, and then, being a completely credulous person who also has a hunger for attention, he repeats everything he hears without any further research circumspection at all. This is how you get stuff like "Saban bought a house on Lake Austin" and "There is a 0% chance A&M goes to the SEC" reported as fact in Austin.

That's also how you get such bullshite reporting from Chimp Brown that John Sharp has to violently smack him down to get him to hide in his corner again because of the slander he's spewing to ESPN.
