Always liked Bill, excellent story teller and thought he was an underrated coach as well. He has some poignant words about playing football this fall. Curry

As fine a gentlemen as you would ever meet.

Many lives have been lost to this point directly due to football. That hasn't stopped us yet

He's the Jimmy Carter of college football. Utterly incompetent at his job, but loves to pontificate self-righteously about what's wrong with the world.

You've got to suck pretty badly when a prince of a man like C.M. Newton has to fire you.

Bill Curry, very underrated coach. Lol
Coaching record of 83-105-4.
3 years at Bama. 0-3 vs Auburn.
7 years at Ky. Not 1 winning season.
On the bright side he was a good family man with values & alright college football commentator.

I used to really like Bill Curry. But at some point he started to take himself too seriously and became the "moral voice of college football".

Bill Curry wanted to run the option with Tim Couch.
He is real dumb.
He is real dumb.

maybe you should have hired him as your coach and watched him try to ruin your program

Smart man. After Saban, Bama needs to hire guys with decent character. Guys like Bill Curry and Mike Shula and Mike Dubose

If that be the case then going to work is not worth he loss of one life. Neither is raising food, fishing or repairing power lines nor driving or flying instead of walking.
I frankly DNGAS if a single snap is taken given I don't like many of the coaches and even fewer of the players and they are boring and I am sick of the hole enchilada. But some things in life transcend hiding under the bed to keep from dying. Would Bill agree not a single baby needs to be taken to term because the loss of one mom @ birth isn't worth the risk.

We didn't.
C.M. Newton did at Kentucky.

Is driving not important enough to lose one life? Is flying? We have to live people.

Bill Curry came across well to the public. Good PR kind of a guy, but a lousy coach. At UK he changed his offense every two years going from a Bowden pro set to an I-bone and not having the personnel matching up with the offense. He wasn't as bad a coach as Joker but it was awful close. Maybe he was. He did indeed try to use Tim Couch in an option offense.
His last season CM Newton told him with 4 games to go he was gone. The players learned about it and a 1-7 team promptly beat Vandy, MSU and UGA in a row. That was his longest SEC win streak. I asked one of the guys that was a DE on that squad what was it that motivated y'all? He said they were happy he was leaving, didn't have to listen to any cornball stories and the staff left them alone. The game they won before that was against IU. A 3-0 debacle of a football game. UK had the ball with seconds remaining at the end of the first half, no timeouts and well within field goal range. Instead of spiking the ball and going up 3-0 they tried a pass play. Completed the pass and the half ended. I remember the UK crowd and the IU fans too booing both teams off the field.
So no, Bill Curry was not underrated. Quite the opposite.

I agree Bill. Football is way too dangerous to ever be played again. Now all these SJW athletes will lose their scholarship and go out and find a real job through the real school of hard knocks.....
