I agree Saban is an a-hole and owns it.

I really don't think they were lying. Miami probably could have made the playoffs with a better QB. Could have gotten one in the off season. Saban wasn't about to get fired.
Meyer's health was really bad. He was probably working more than Saban. He really needed to take a break and get his priorities straight.

In all honesty, if you look at Saban and his strong points, it's literally impossible to honestly say his strengths aren't more suite for college football.
He is one of the greatest recruiters in the history of college football. That's undeniable.
He is a dictator. That doesn't fly in the NFL when you are coaching grown arse men. It used to, but somewhere along the lines, the players started seeing themselves as higher ups than the coaches, when in fact, the coaches are supposed to be their bosses. Salaries play a big role in this backwards arse way of thinking though.
He has his way of every player doing their job and he doesn't care what your way is. Kind of part of the dictatorship angle. When players get to the nfl, they have their own way of doing their jobs and they don't really give a shite if the coach likes it or not. The way they see it, their way obviously worked or else they wouldn't have made it on the roster in the first place.
I could see Saban having a complete mental come apart dealing with nfl players over the course of a few years. He truly is suited for the college game. He is a teacher and molder of players and he is a master recruiter. Those 2 things are made null and void coaching in the nfl.

Would you consider Bill Belichick, Chuck Noll, Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi failures as NFL coaches? Saban's two year NFL record was better than any of those coaches.

He straightened them out right through what might be the second most stressful job in the country now in terms of demanding fans, a rabid rivalry, and the need to live up to the standards of his predecessors? Florida has high standards and all, and the specter of Spurrier, but it's relatively tame compared to Whitebread State U.

All he has to do is keep everything in perspective and notice things outside of football. At Florida, everything he did was for his team and he took it way too seriously. You can be a good coach at a demanding place and still enjoy life. He just wasn't doing that at UF and it was really taking a toll on his body.

I can't say for sure which is the biggest lie, but I can tell you I'd trust both of them about as far as I can throw them. And since I know I can throw Saban a good 10 yards I have to say Meyer's the bigger liar.

No he wasn't. I really think he missed the college game and having complete control. He wasn't a failure in the NFL. I think eventually he would have at least made a Super Bowl appearance.
