There's a difference between "big money" and fool's money.
You know what they say about a fool and his money, right?
UT has spent more money on their big hat, big belt buckle, athletic program than anyone in the country, by far, since 1976 (the past 50 years) when Darrell Royal quit coaching and became strictly the full time AD. I remember well when he went on his spending spree. Loved him as a coach, hated what he did to college football as an AD.
How has that paid off, comparatively speaking, to many who have spent far less but more wisely? For instance Florida, Georgia, Alabama, even :::::: cough :::::: the suckeyes. Also Miami and FSU, even :::::: cough ::::::: the sheep humping sister banging taterheads?
Money is not always the answer and spending that much money on ADs is absurd. No AD is worth that much money.
FWIW most HCs are grossly overpaid as well, imho.
The everyday hard working families and fans are being screwed over by these big business corporate minded ADs these days. There's something to be said for how the small schools and colleges still make ends meet while producing a pure product.
Royal and UTa started the arms race fifty years ago. Yet Royal remains, imho, a great great man.

There isn't an Athletic Department in the conference that's had more success across the Big 3 than Tennessee since Danny White took over in 2021:
Baseball:
1x National Champions (2024)
2x Regular Season SEC Champions (2022, 2024)
2x SEC Tournament Champions (2022, 2024)
3x CWS appearances (2021, 2022, 2024)
Leads the nation in wins since 2021
Basketball:
1x Regular Season SEC Champions (2024)
1x SEC Tournament Champions (2022)
2x Elite 8 (2024, 2025)
3x Sweet 16 (2023,2024,2025)
Ranked in the AP Top 25 for 80 straight weeks going back to 2021. 2nd longest streak in the country behind only Houston
Football:
1x CFP appearance in 12 team format (2024)
1 game away from 2nd CFP appearance in 4 team format (2022)
Throw as much shade as you want for the time frame prior to White arriving in Knoxville, but he's been a Top 3 AD in the country since taking over... which is what this threads about.

This is goofy. None of that happened regarding Royal.

That's simply not true. UT was a poor athletic department until the 90s. Deloss Dodds did do what you're accusing Darrell Royal of, but it took a decade before he built the fundraising machine that the UT athletic department became.
I don't know where you got this impression from, but it's dead wrong.

His job is the have the best ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT, which UT has had what last 4 straight years.
What are you going to do NFLUS is Texas wins a natty in Fball or Baseball? Seriously get help man your hate for Texas (given we don't even have any rivalry with your team) is just sad.

Tenners best team in years.
Remind me the score of when one of LSU's mediocre teams played them in their own stadium?
30-10

Brian Kelly was humiliated so badly in Tiger Stadium that you had to go back to a prior staff and AD.
Oof
Atleast he wasn't blown out at home by a team that lost to Vanderbilt last season & is undefeated in season openers. Your current AD has that going for him

Along with a heisman qb, multiple baseball natties, a gymnastics natty, and a wbb natty, i.e. more than what your AD has accomplished by far.

LSU:

We could go on, but you're behind Vandy and South Carolina for most big 3 championships. If that's the "best overall athletics department program in the country as far as the big 3 men's sports" we're measuring things upside down.

He's the best AD in the nation and he wouldn't have been nearly dumb enough to think that a mediocre ND coach who benefited from weak schedules pre-NIL era would fit into the SEC.
What's LSU highest defensive ranking under BK? Will finally win their season opener? That open season game stat must be embarrassing for LSU fans. Almost as embarrassing as your coach 's soft finesse style of play. Even Milroe ran over and around you losers.

Wait...you are bragging about a "mediocre" 9-4 LSU team beating the only Tennessee team in their 134 seasons of playing football to have 8 losses, and THAT is what you are hanging your hat on. Butch Jones had already been fired and Brady Hoke was finishing out the season at the helm...but I guess...congratulations???
Actually...let's analyze your brag a little further.
Here is how bad that Tennessee team was. They lost to:
Florida by 6
Georgia by 41
South Carolina by 6
Alabama by 38
Kentucky by 3
Missouri by 33
LSU by 20
Vanderbilt by 18
Now...if you want to talk Mediocre teams...how about when a Tennessee team that finished 5-6 went into Baton Rouge and beat an LSU team that finished 11-2? That Tennessee team lost at home to Vandy, and barely beat UAB and Memphis at home, but still came out of Baton Rouge with a win.
LSU has had recent success against Tennessee, winning 6 of the last 8 matchups. If they can just win the next 11 straight they will tie the series.
