Don’t they already get extra revenue?
If OU/UT bite on this they’re leaving themselves behind in the long run. More money now but potentially reacting to future changes later when things inevitably compress to four conferences.
Yep, they’re greater among equals in that conference. The problem is the Big-12 product is hurting their ability to recruit a whole football team. Oklahoma is going get appreciably better on defense over the next half decade just by being able to recruit defenders to the conference known for producing NFL defenders.

My goodness. Frank Broyles was a freaking genius getting us out of that disaster back in the 90's.

If UT/OU agree this will all just go down again in 5 years or so. It's just delaying the inevitable.

I feel bad for the other schools.
There is no way that is sustainable (for anyone).
I’m glad we made our own path when we did.

Hard to believe the rest of the Big 12 would be so eager to be cucked by Texas & Oklahoma
T & O would still make more in the SEC

Your average OU fans response:
Texas might like this grovelling but it doesnt solve OU's problem.
Oklahoma only has one real rival in Texas and we're 7-3 over the last decade against them and we completely own the conference. The program is trending up while everyone else is trending down or has topped out. OU has plenty of money already and is capable of going independent. OU's issue is the program and recruiting has gone as far as its going to go in the big12 and frankly we're bored, and hungry.

Texas has farther to go with what SEC alignment can do for their product on the field. Oklahoma is already a mean offense and beaten some quality SEC teams (but never the top quality ones) with half a football team. They’ve gotten more technically sound since Stoops bro was fired at DC but they still just look a bit untalented on defense. That’s gonna change and Oklahoma will probably win a national title in the next 5 years imo.

So the rest of the Big 12 enjoys watching Texas and OU with their wives. Got it.

The damage is already done regardless of if Texas and Oklahoma actually jump. Everyone has a contingency plan now. No one (except current SEC teams) is safe.

Karmas a bitch bowlsby. This is what he gets for that bull shite pageant he had g5 teams competing in a few years back. I hope the big 12 dissolves and that guy never works again.

The Big-12 is one big cuckoldry kink in action

Yep, this just can't work as a sustainable model. If I'm TCU, I'm talking Baylor into leaving with me, to form a "sorta big" conference with Boise, UCF, and a few others.

Not sure UT has the balls to do the same. Their whole history is beating up on cupcakes. It's the only reason they're a "blue blood."
Been saying I don't get how Texas thinks this is a good idea. They will struggle to bowl eligible each year.

According to Dodd, the structure "would grant the Longhorns and Sooners an additional half-share annually (1.5 shares each), bumping their payouts to approximately $56 million per year."
In order to make the revenue balance out, the other schools in the conference would decrease their annual payouts.
What a slap in the face to the other schools.
Imagine Okie St.
“Here to try and keep OU in town we are gonna take money from you and give it to your biggest rivals”
Haha

How could OU or Texas even try to make the argument that they play in a power 5 conference if they accepted this? A conference so weak all the other members pay the only two schools that matter 50% more money just to not abandon them without a P5 conference that would take them.

I cannot fathom how the other schools agreed to this. They need to focus on what their next landing spot is because even if this works (no way it does) they are in a worse position and there is no way any team would ever want to join the conference in the future

That's what we've been saying since the Big 12 pulled this move 2011. The Big 12 hasn't been a Power 5 conference since NU, CU, UM, and A&M left. It's a G5 schedule, with one real game a year at the Texas State Fair.

We can make fun of Mizzou and Aggy some but My God they are not this cucked
Posted on 7/24/21 at 7:47 pm to Jobu93
I am sure they're trying to do two things at once.
