Best SEC team ever

Are we determining this by the amount of Pro players on the team?

How they won their games and who the opponents were?

Or but the eye test

It’s probably one of the Alabama teams, but there’s been so many great ones I can’t remember which is the best Alabama team. So my pick for best all around team would be ‘08 Florida Gators.

1979 Alabama deserves a lot of attention. People talk about their 92 defense, and of course Saban's defenses ---which have been phenomenal, but good night. That defense was incredible.

How does it not make sense? I’m saying it’s probably one of those Alabama teams, but none of those teams stick out to me like UF ‘08, because the best Bama team of recent is sorrounded by other good Bama teams. There’s not an individual Bama team that sticks out in my mind as the best team ever. They’re all kinda roped together into one big dynasty for me and probably most fans outside of Alabama.

I talk about '92 because I saw it. I was only 4 in '79.

Beat Bama 45-30 in SEC championship
Beat FSU 52-20

Well, you make a convincing argument. That 31 point average in conference is impressive. I still think 08 UF is the winner. But considering this is just another off season subjective thread that boils down to an opinion, I guess we just agree to disagree.

Sometimes the best teams don't win titles. 98 Tennessee was not the most talented UT team I've seen. 97 was more talented, 2001 was loaded with talent, hell the 1990 team was really talented, and they had 2 losses and 2 ties, they beat Spurrier's Gators 45-3. The 98 team just had everything go their way. They got a PI call on 4th down against Syracuse, and the big fumble in the Arky game. It's damn hard to win a National Title. The best team I ever saw in person was not SEC, it was Miami 2002 and they lost to Ohio State in he NC game later that year. That team should have never been challenged. Larry Coker, what an idiot, they gave him gold and he magically turned it into shite.

I know they lost twice but that 2001 Florida team with Grossman was sick.

Thats not how it works. Thats now how any of this works.

The best team is the best. The one that wins. Which is why we play the games.

Jordan Hare voodoo and then Travis Stephens.
Miami would've still killed us in the Rose Bowl.

2009 Alabama is the only SEC team to beat two teams that won 13 games in the same season - Florida and Texas.
False.

2017 Auburn beat two teams that won 13 games in the same season - Alabama and UGA.

Personally I think 2010 Bama was the most talented overall team ever, and they had 3 losses. shite happens but we go by what happened on the field so the best SEC team will be a champion. The best team ever in college is 95 Nebraska, at least in my lifetime. I am saying 08 UF, with 09 Bama, and 96 UF trailing behind them in the SEC. Others don't agree and that is fine. It is not like we can bracket them off and have them play it out.

Which is why I am calling 2010 Auburn Tigers. 14-0, Undefeated National Champs with the heisman trophy winner playing in the toughest the west has ever been

We bad

2011 LSU/Bama teams. One team just had a better coach that knew he had to make adjustments to win the rematch but both of those teams were so freaking loaded with NFL talent that it’s not even funny.

Julio Jones (1st round pick)
Marcell Dareus (1st round pick)
Mark Barron (1st round pick)

So the BYU team that won the NC was the best team in college football that year? What year was that, 84 maybe?

I just looked at their schedule, they beat Pitt early and Michigan in their Bowl. The rest of the schedule was biscuits and gravy (Easy as hell).

Defensively they were loaded but neither had a qb on the same level with Wuerful. The FSU team that beat that UF team had Boulware, Wadsworth (3rd pick), WIlson and Spires on the dline, they all went in the 1st round. They also had Peter Warrick, Warrick Dunn and Walter Jones (possibly the GOAT olinemen) on Offense and were undefeated and ranked #1 when they played (UF was #2).
