The most complete I've seen is the 96 gator squad.
Spurrier calling the offense, Bob Stoops calling the defense but Danny sets them apart from the other great SEC teams. DW was as good a college qb as you will ever see.

They lost to FSU. They, like Alabama, were fortunate for a rematch.

That team was solid...but some of the recent Bama teams have been down right nasty.

Even though I hate this argument, fricking bullshite ACC refs fricked us in that game. As you saw we beat their arse by 32 points on a neutral field with neutral refs.

It’s probably one of the Alabama teams, but there’s been so many great ones I can’t remember which is the best Alabama team. So my pick for best all around team would be ‘08 Florida Gators.

I would disagree there, they had some squeakers against inferior competition and of course the complete cluster that was the utah game.
2011 bama is maybe one of the best teams I've seen in my lifetime. They blew away pretty much everyone they played, and their lone loss of the season wasn't a head scratcher or wtf moment at all, they barely lost in OT to the 2nd best team in america (with a wiiide gap from them to the 3rd best team IMO).

2009? That 2008 squad really wasn't all that, good record because the West kind of sucked outside of Alabama and Ole Miss and they lost two games so I think you mean 2009.

The 2011 team also played nobody outside of Arkansas and LSU. Yes I think that 2011 defense is overrated.
The second best offense that Bama’s defense played that year was 84th ranked MSU. It’s not that impressive if you beat up a bunch of garbage offenses. Arkansas was the best at 29th. The 2012 Bama team on the other hand played numerous top 50 offenses and were still the top ranked defense in the nation.

For all of the great teams Nick Saban has fielded, his 2009 Alabama team stands alone as the undefeated squad.
It’s not hard to figure out why this team accomplished what the others didn’t.
A star-studded defense led by Rolando McClain and Terrence Cody crushed the competition, returning the Crimson Tide to the same stage on which it stumbled the year before.
The 2008 Alabama team overachieved in Saban’s second year, running the table in the regular season before running into a Florida team that was simply better.
The Crimson Tide got the rematch it so desperately wanted in 2009.
This time Alabama was ready for Tim Tebow and the Urban Meyer attack, holding the Gators to just 88 rushing yards and 20:23 in time of possession.
Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram accounted for 189 total yards of offense and three touchdowns in helping the Crimson Tide slam the door on Florida’s quest for a repeat title run.
Just two of Alabama’s SEC wins came by one score—Tennessee and Auburn.
Those two victories came as more escape than domination.
Cody blocked Tennessee’s game-winning field-goal attempt for the first and quarterback Greg McElroy hit Roy Upchurch in the final two minutes to allow Alabama to get past Auburn.
Still, the Crimson Tide smashed SEC opponents to the tune of a 27.2-point average margin of victory.
Alabama then beat Texas 37-21 in the Rose Bowl to win its first national championship under Saban.
The 2010 Rose Bowl will always be best remembered for who didn’t play, though, than who did.
Alabama knocked out Texas quarterback Colt McCoy with a shoulder injury that left him sidelined for virtually the entire contest.
The Longhorns made the game interesting in the second half, but couldn’t overcome the 24-6 hole they put themselves in shortly before halftime.

2009 Alabama is tops for me.
1979 Alabama had one hell of a defense. They are top 5.
1983 Auburn should get a lot of love. Their schedule was very solid. Beat Florida which beat eventual NC Miami by 25; beat Georgia which handed Texas (Auburn’s only loss) a late 4th quarter loss and prevented the Horns an undefeated NC.
1984 Florida is another good one.

on paper but not on the field. 2009 Bama was a play away from losing to 09 Auburn. Auburn turned around and beat the same exact team the next year down 24..

Maybe i’m misremembering, but I thought that 2012 bama team was better than 2009. 2010 Auburn was fun to watch, but I’m jaded against it.
