Bart Starr - Alabama (1952-1955)
20-20-5 Overall
Starr's first 2 seasons he played on 10-2 and 6-3-3 teams, but his 3rd and 4th seasons Alabama went 4-15-2, including the worst season in program history in 1955 (0-10) under Ears Whitworth. Starr didn't play because of a "youth movement" and because of an injury sustained in a hazing incident.
Patrick Willis - Ole Miss (2003-2006)
21-26 Overall (13-19 SEC)
Was an All-American in 2005 and 2006, SEC DPOY, Butkus and Lambert Award Winner in 2006, two seasons in which Ole Miss went a combined 7-16 (3-13).
Emmitt Smith - Florida (1987-1989)
20-16 Overall (11-9 SEC)
Eric Berry - Tennessee (2007-2009)
22-17 Overall (12-11 SEC)
Jay Cutler - Vanderbilt (2002-2005)
11-35 Overall (5-27 SEC)
John Abraham - South Carolina (1996-1999)
12-32 Overall (7-25 SEC)
First team All-SEC, 2nd all-time at South Carolina in sacks (23.5)

God I wish we had a Patrick Willis on this team.

Justin Houston on the 2010 UGA team immediately comes to mind

Not saying MSU was bad, but I think Prescott was way better than anyone around him
At a school with slightly more talent, they could have won in a big way IMO.

Not a single player, but here's something I found amazing.
In 2012, Auburn went 3-9 overall and 0-8 in the SEC.
Of their 22 starters and 2 kickers ( Source for roster): then end of the 2015 football season saw:
12 still on NFL 53 man active rosters, 1 on an NFL practice squad, and 1 on a CFL active roster - and Lutzenkirchen was almost certain to have made an NFL roster too.
That's got to be some kind of record for wasted talent.

Champ Bailey
They went 19-5 his junior and senior year and finished ranked in the Top 15. They were bad his freshman year, though (5-6).

SC's would have to be John Abraham. Guy played on the 1998 1-10 team and the 1999 0-11 team.
He was All-SEC in 1999, and a 5-time pro bowler with 133.5 career sacks in the NFL after being drafted 13th in the 2000 NFL draft.

Yeah. He was just a great player in a largely forgotten era of UGA football, I guess. Not so much a bad team, just never a particularly good one.

Agreed - that was about as empty a 19-5 as you could ask for I guess when you go 3-5 against your 4 main rivals and don't win any sort of championship.
A lot like our Shula era teams that went 7-6, 10-2, 6-7 but lost basically every important game they played.

Oh yea, perfect example right there
