We used to be famous for NOT having a bar scene, although I haven't been out in Auburn anytime in the the last 5 years or so.
Last time I went there was in 2012, and your description would be accurate.

Y’all are sleeping on Tigerland. Cleanest bars in one of the best areas in Baton Rouge

Was a great place 20 years ago.
What has happened to it?

Baton Rouge... Wildly overrated.

Dave's Dark Horse Tavern in Starkville is one that doesn't get talked about much because it's in a crappy part of Starkville (yes, I know) but it's got a great food and music scene. Drinks are run of the mill but everything else about it is awesome.
My favorite spot is a balcony table at Boure in Oxford.

Proud Larrys is Oxford’s best music bar.
I love Dave’s Dark horse in Starkville.
Ivory Tusk and The Train Station in T-Town we’re awesome back in the day but both are by gones now.
Chelsea’s when it was on the North Gate in BR was killer as was the Varsity. Chelsea’s is no more now.

Quixote's in Auburn was always a great day drinking spot to drink 100 beers and Jake's in Columbia was a blast.

Auburn's bar scene has improved DRASTICALLY over the last 15 years! Even though the Supper Club is no more, downtown Auburn is a legit college bar scene now. In the (pre) 90's, it was one of the worst in the SEC!

Gainesville is ehh for bar scenes besides the Social at this point. We have fantastic resturants around the city though.

I think the most likely scenario is 50% capacity. I got this from a Tech fan in the legislature, so I obviously was able to reply to him that it would be business as usual for his team.
Do all the bars still shut down at midnight?

What defines “best bars”? To me, it would be getting laid. I don’t think any bar is going to have as high as a success rate at that as Tigerland. So there’s that. But, there is the AIDS. Magic Johnson is doing quite well, however.

Tuscaloosa is a great, great IN SEASON bar scene. A world of it's own. Everybody is on a drunk happy, celebratory mood. Loud music and fans celebrating and spilling into the streets. The only smart asses are if some of the frat boys strut in. But the civilian/fans are the greatest. Tons of staunch fans show up without tickets and aren't looking for any. They drink, have a big time Friday night and show up at the stadium Sat AM and drink some more then go find a bar or tailgate group to watch the game with. Home and away. Yes they travel without tickets. LOL! And DNGAS about any. Outside football season I agree Athens is a gold mine bar scene with tons of bars in a cluster in town. And Tuscaloosa is then just another college town.
