Starkville - Dave’s or Casa Bravo

Tuscaloosa - That Irish Pub one

Oxford - The bars aren’t great, but the restaurants are really good and have booze. Hard to name a favorite as there are several

Barn - Skybar

Don’t know that I’ve been to a bar in another college town, except Nashville - which doesn’t count.

People don’t visit Baton Rouge for tiger land. They visit for the tailgating, food and tiger stadium on a Saturday night. The real experts squeeze a nola trip out of it also.

That bar in Athens with all the rebel flags in it was cool.

About Dickson Street... I’m single, 31 years old and in August I’ll be out here starting a new career and job. I’m living a couple blocks north of Dickson, less than a 10 minute walk to George’s, actually.

Dickson Street is mixed. You'll figure out quickly which are college and mixed or non-college bars.

I generally hang out on Block Ave at Maxine's, Nines Alley, Pinpoint, or Vault. Those are basically no-college kid bars. Tables & Ale is up there, too. I can't comment on it as it is far too grungy for me. I'm thinking older hippies and dope-heads. I've never been to BigBox karaoke next to Maxine's.

Dickson Street has dozens of bars. The ones that are "least collegey" are:

Georges (except during certain live shows)
Kingfish
Brewskis (pretty mixed tho)

The rest are pretty much all going to be college heavy, the exceptions being the bars attached to restauraunts and Ben's Apartment (which you'll need to find a member of to get in).

The kids don't really even start going out in full force on Dickson Street until around 10pm. The bars close at 2:00 am, and the college kids here like to close down the bars.

I’m living a couple blocks north of Dickson, less than a 10 minute walk to George’s, actually. From my limited experience, I’ve met people from all ages and places on Dickson, even Dallas/KC/Little Rock visiting. How’s your experience? I don’t mind hanging with college kids here and there, hell sometimes I like to think I’m still in college, but would you say Dickson is more than just a college hangout?

I would say that there is a good mix. Most of the bars trend younger, but there are restaurants like Bordino's that probably cater to an older crowd.

Even George's brings in all ages, It's been there forever.

If Roger's Rec is still around, it definitely had an older crowd last time I was there.

Also, the Walton Arts Center is on Dickson, which brings people from every age.

The highrise condos along Dickson like the Underwood building and The Legacy building are certainly not inhabited by college students.

In sum, most bars will be younger, but you can find about anything on that street.

Harpos in Columbia was a great time. Owner's daughter went to Bama and he gave us a card to skip the line Friday night. The look on those Mizzou kids faces when we walked right in was priceless. Fun bar and nice people.

Downtown Columbia was really nice. Would go back when Bama plays.

You don't go to Tigerland because the bars look nice and are clean, amateur...

You're there to pound 50¢ shots, drink blue drinks you probably shouldn't, chain smoke cigs on the Fred's patio with a XXX in hand, and watch the Livingston Parish trash and West BR Parish baws throw hands in the parking lot.

Haha I meant that college kids can be fun and I’d say I like to do fun things.

I don’t mind a split restaurant/bar of college kids and older folks but I’m past the crowded raging bars nowadays.

I prefer watching the spoiled frat kids get blackout drunk start trying to fight each other And yelling racial slurs until they get knocked out.
