well while we do lists:

1. Les Miles
2. James Franklin
3. Mark Richt
4. Steve Spurrier
5. Nick Saban
6. Bobby Petrino
7. Gene Chizik
8. Dan Mullen
9-12. The rest were all equally awful

Seriously? Why? Because his team didn't completely suck?
Because of the team he inherited and what he was able to do with it in just one year.

Maybe a good reason to put him towards the top of the list but not AT the top IMO.

Vandy is more impressive to me than what Miles or Saban have done at Bama.

This is just

Miles and Saban have dominated everyone they played except each other. What more can you expect out of them?

Vandy coach is 3rd behind Miles and Saban.

Miles unquestionably. He led the team to 12-0 despite:
• QB issues
• Disciplinary issues
• Playing and defeating 3 top 10 teams, including Bama on the road
Remember, we're talking 12-0 here with the issues he faced—that's the clincher for me.

James Franklin

He did win more games than Vandy is used to, but he made several strategic blunders that would keep him out of a best coaching job discussion.

What happened to all the Chizik love from the threads in September and early November?

Franklin is a tool. Obviously a good motivator and will make for a good coach somewhere someday, but Vandy still only won 6 games. If they had upset UGA, or Arky, or even UT, then maybe I'd agree with you, But their best win is a tie between beating Wake and Kentucky. So Franklin is ranked so high because he simply beat teams that Vandy should beat, but nothing more? Well, might I segway into the obvious Richt argument...

Fair opinion. I have no problem with someone making an argument for Les. He has done a great job and dealt with some off the field problems. I won't take anything away from him. From my mostly unbiased perspective (as it related to LSU and Vandy), I am just personally more impressed with what Franklin has accomplished.

IMO Franklin should be Unanimous #1. He made Vandy actually look like a football team this season.

Mark Richt's gotta be above Spurrier, I'd say.

I don't expect more out of them. That is about what I expected from them. They met expectations. Franklin vastly exceeded expectations.

I can agree with a Richt/Spurrier tie. Both great seasons and overcoming adversity.

Because the dude came in on the hot seat, off of a 6-7 season lost his first 2 games, buckled down under all the criticism and ripped off 10 in a row to be in the SEC championship.

I knew this thread would go badly for you as soon as I saw 1. Franklin.

Personally I think Miles should get it, but anyone who takes Vandy to a bowl game definitely has a strong argument.

Nothing wrong with that, but you are probably on your own (with the exception of a number of Vandy fans) in that opinion. I fully expect Miles to win COY in a landslide.

It is going beautifully, what are you talking about?

I can respect that. I won't argue much against those that think Les should be #1. He has a strong case, I just have a different opinion that I think is more than reasonable.
