Kansas City. It’s not even close.
Edit- if you don’t have KC in your top 2, you are admitting you have never been to KC to try it.

I'm a fan of Blacks and Kreuz myself. But, I've eaten at all of them and you really can't go wrong with any of them.

I agree. Snow's in Lexington (Tx) is very good.
ETA- Snow's BBQ is not too far from College Station or Austin if you're ever in either place for a long football game weekend. Around 60 miles from either place.
Lockhart is around 30 miles from Austin.

STL and KC are 1a / 1b.

You're right. That's why SC mustard sauce doesn't have honey in it.

Went to jack stacks and was disappointed. Major bummer..
Saying that; the rub they sell is the best I've ever tasted. And the color is great

If KC is considered in the footprint then there is your answer

Is the Terry Black’s in Austin head and shoulders better than the one in Dallas?
Yes. It was the best plate I've ever had... until I went to Goldee's just south of Arlington. I doubt I'll ever have better BBQ again.

Franklin’s, in Austin, is by far the best I’ve ever had….of course, you may have to wait a little…but, frankly, all of the BBQ in Cen Tex is really good. Can’t go wrong with any mentioned around here. I don’t think there is a “best” BBQ…people’s tastes vary…it is just what you prefer, I guess. None of it is cheap.

I love good BBQ where ever it is Alabama, Tenner, Arky, Texas frick had some great que in Tulsa once. That said personal preference and what you know always makes your list. As far as whole cities go if you don’t include KC you are either ignorant or stupid.

Lockhart would get my vote. Been many places but that one is special for BBQ

This and throw South Carolina in the mix. You can't sling a dead cat in South Carolina without hitting a gas station with better BBQ than any found west of the Sabine River....
