I use to go to school at Ole Miss and made the trip to Memphis or my friend's place in Germantown a time or two. And in my opinion Rendezvous wasn't even the best in Memphis but for sure the most touristy.

I like ribs better, but a good brisket or good beef ribs are great. I enjoy Texas bbq, but I also like messing with the Texas guys.

This is ridiculous. The best place for BBQ is some hole in the wall place you have never heard of.

See: Holcomb, Missouri

I can dig that. I'm not as big on their pulled pork as I am their ribs. My favorite is the Commissary.

Best thing about East Texas is that we are in the intersection of Southern Pork Ribs and Texas Brisket.

Best of both worlds.

To all Springfield, MO or SWMO residents, don't forget that Rock-n-ribs is NOT at Bass Pro this year. It's at the Community Blood Center's parking lot off of Hwy 160 (Campbell) and Plainview. Huge parking lot. Easy access. Should be a good time.

I advise you to arrive around 10:30 or 11:00 am on Saturday morning. The lines usually don't start until about 12:30 pm, so that gives you a lot of time to simply walk around and try ribs and briskett without having to wait in line.

Works perfectly for my wife and I every year. We're full before everyone arrives. That way we can focus on beer and music for the rest of the day.

The public serving Saturday is honestly the worst part about the event. It's best if you know someone on a team and can get a little taste Friday night. Early Saturday you do not want to bother the cooks, but you might catch a little sample of a competition rack that didn't make the cut for turn in.

There's a huge bbq competition on State's campus this weekend.

ETA: Also, did you guys know that when you bite into a rib and it falls off the bone, it's not cooked right? It's supposed to make a bite mark.

Truth. It is considered overcooked if it falls off.

A bass pro held your event?

It takes all of Tommy lee park to hold BBQ fest. There is a reason we are voted best BBQ and hold that event every year.
