The real question is who got it right lately? Ohio St with Day, UGA with Kirby, Bama with Saban, and Ole Miss with Kiffen.

There are some commonalities amongst these, mainly they paid their dues and werent fast tracked to success. Kiffin being the outlier that he paid his dues by crashing a few cars first. All have NFL experience as well...

Tech is doing what they’re doing because they have a billionaire buying players via NIL in a garbage conference.

He might be a good coach but we don’t know yet IMO.

Not sure why more coordinators are not being mentioned here. In 2021 both LSU and UF went after what many called big splashes. LSU Kelly and UF Napier. The same year Mike Elko, Dan Lanning, Brent Venables, Marcus Freeman, Tony Elliot, Joey McGuire and Rhett Lashlee were coordinators all hired as HCs and look at their programs now. Elko went to Duke before coming to a&m but all those guys were getting glossed over.

It’s going to be Gus, he has proven he knows how to beat Bama.

If we can manage to get through the offseason without Colin Klein getting swiped, I’ll be thrilled. I’m hoping he hangs on just a little bit longer, waiting for a bigger name opportunity than Oklahoma State or something similar.

He’s a great up and coming young mind, and will eventually be a fantastic hire for someone.

Lea would entertain offers for no other reason than to hold the admins feet to fire and get more NIL/ facilities.

Vandy already has a fairly new indoor practice field but they’ll build them a new one, with top notch amenities to go along with it. The stadium renovation will then resume with upper decks on the sides, chair backs and more suites.

Vandy is going to capitalize on the Titans sucking arse. They are becoming the big ticket in Nashville. Celebrities are jumping on board.

Now, if the admin for some reason balks at Lea’s demands then he could leave out of frustration but I don’t think they’re going to. Vandy is his dream job and he wants to build the program into a powerhouse.

Yes I for one like a college football world where GT is good. It’s good for college football.

Except this is not Auburn. Literally Ed Orgeron won a national championship here.

There are definitely gonna be some disappointed fans. This current crop of coaches is very weak. All the top guys (Kirby, Day, DeBoer, Lanning, Cignetti, Elko) are not going anywhere. It's going to be brutal when reality comes crashing down.

Yep. For every success story there are 10 stories of teams spending decades in the wilderness after firing a coach.

Drink would be an underwhelming hire at Florida and LSU if you ask me.

These two programs have general managers and countless staff and contacts to survey who is out there but have to settle on Drink? If they can find Todd Golden they can find a coach coming up from below the surface.

There really isn’t a homerun hire out there imo

For UF, I’d say Lane, Brohm, Fisch or Franklin would be solid hires.
I don’t get the Drink love. I’d take Kade Bell over him who currently has Pitt as a top 8 scoring Offense n his 2nd season as their OC. They were last in points and yards in the ACC before he arrived. His Dad was a Gator under Spurrier and it would be cool to see that offense back in The Swamp

Drink is probably in line for either LSU or UF - it won’t be sexy but he’d be solid…. Basically the Elko of 2025.

Elko is a lot better than Drink.

Outside of some obvious greats, do you think the head coach matters as much as the quality you have at OC - DC, and the positions staff?

I think some of these failing HC's would be better served going back to their roots as position coaches or coordinators.
