Can't believe how he wasted so much talent on that team. Would seem impossible.

Did you forget the Tubby years at Kentucky?

Love maybe, but Westbrook wasn't a big time recruit. I certainly think Howland could coax some 3 stars guys to UT

Tennessee could do a lot worse that Ben Howland. At least he's got some "skins on the wall" so to speak (multiple conf. championships and multiple Final Fours). Look at some of the other recent SEC hires of coaches who's success was VERY limited prior to coming to the SEC.

And their success is still very limited outside of Cuonzo's most recent run.

I've had these same arguments with fellow Bama fans on our board about Howland. Do not want at all.

Second, what was the record of UCLA the three years before Howland took over? I know I don't need to tell you about the strength of the UK program before Tubby.

Howland isn't going to be able to recruit UCLA kids to Tennessee. It's going to be a little bit tougher for him to sell on the recruiting trail. That's not to say he won't recruit decently but he had the benefit of UCLA backing him on the trail.

I'd take Howland over Tubby this point as well and I respect Tubby as an X's and O's guy. He's just over the hill.

2006 - Lost Championship game to Florida
2007 - Lost National Semifinal to Florida
2008 - Lost National Semifinal to Memphis

That's 3...

Howland at Tennessee (especially with McCray) would be much better than Pearl at Auburn.

Howland at Tennessee would be the Howland at Pitt not the Howland at UCLA, that is something all need to grasp.

He will be OK but not great, he isn't going to get Tennessee to their first final four and keep them in the FF for multiple years in a row...

Howland is an aged Martin.

SEC recruiting is a bit of a different beast than PAC 12 recruiting.

Recruiting to Tennessee is in a different universe than recruiting to UCLA.

The only way he is gonna get those type of players is they will have to be committed to play for him, not for the school. Other than that, good luck.

Yup

At UCLA, you have a lot of great historical background on the program plus the city.

Tennessee...............need somebody like Pearl to sell the program.

They need a HC who goes out and gets the players he needs to succeed in the way he wants his team to play the game.

Very few teams are going to be be able to win via the one and done model, Tennessee is not one of these teams.

Tennessee fans act like they want more of a clown on the sideline like Pearl than a winner like Martin.

I just needed to read the first page.

Would be another destruction piece to Mike Bohn's and Booger's master plan.........to destroy the athletic program.

Pearl did revitalize the program from the dead and as an end result is typecasted if that coach doesn't produce that same type of atmosphere and end result

When state fires Rick Ray next year. I would love to hire Tyndall, he's a great coach.

Was 89-40 at Pitt.

Back to back regular season Big East titles.

Back to back Sweet 16 appearances

3 straight Big East finals.

So mediocre.
