I was just telling you, in my personal experience with people in my family, UF is easily their most hated/biggest rival.

No shite. I think everybody knows that.

And I'm simply noting that we have a scheduling inequity because a game that isn't even on the level of a top tier rivalry.

Maybe so. But for the four schools in question here it's a non-negotiable.

At least for the last 20 years, it's been non-negotiable.

If you think you can persuade any of the four schools to give up one of those games, then I suggest you get your arse down to Destin with the quickness.

Just because Barners and Gumps talk about the Iron Bowl 24/7/365 doesn't mean Auburn doesn't consider Georgia a rival and vice versa.

So what tier or hierarchy of rivalry should we stop at before we can start discussing equitable schedules? UGA has UF. Alabama has Auburn. UGA also has GT. UGA has AU. Alabama has Tenn. Where do we start worrying about the other teams in the conference?

It may not be inherently more fair, but it is inherently more balanced across the league as a whole. With the 6-2, one or two traditional power teams are going to win the luck of the scheduling draw while one or two get screwed. This will happen every year, but it will just happen to different teams.

Well that is what happens when you play everyone. There is some ebb and flow. If the hope is that you would have at least one east team that could knock of the west leader to benefit your team, what happens when you need Vandy to knock off Ole Miss. I know it is inconceivable and will never happen, but conceptually, I think the scenario has to be considered.

Continuing to say it doesn't make it true. None of these teams, not even Alabama, could maintain a life as an independent.

t's the SEC Rant. The LSU circle jerk is <------- thataway. If you can't hold your own, go play with your own.

When someone (not you) comes on this board and tried to swing his dick around and say "This is an LSU site buddy," that guy is a dumbass.

Don't be that guy.

I'll be that guy. A fact is a fact. The SECrant being part of a LSU site.......is a fact. As far as permanent opponents go, they should keep it the way it is. I would always want LSU to play Florida annually. To be the best you play the best. Period

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

After all, you think Auburn and UGA are rivals, and apparently you're wrong.

And my point is that the UGA vs. Auburn game isn't important enough to the landscape of college football to dictate our schedule inequity. I was simply using my brother in law as an example of why the UGA vs. Auburn game really isn't a national rivalry on any scale that should justify such a position from an objective standpoint.

Again, this is all on deaf ears because LSU is clearly in the minority. I realize as much. Still fun to debate though.

Can you cite to me where I said this? Where I stated that they are not rivals.

What the frick are you calling me out for? I said I don't get it because the only jawjah fan I know lives and dies for the cocktail party. I even admitted a sample of one is no good.

Aside: When I was asking my Georgia friend about all of this, he explained that he absolutely hated Florida. So I was asking him about all the WBOCP games he had been to and he said he had never seen them win one. So we looked at the record since like 90 and it was pretty grim and I said, so you are basically their State? We almost had to fight

They won't have to.

SEC East plus the Bama schools would secede first.

And you could say the same for LSU. Are we ready to secede over this issue?

We have no leverage. ZERO. Having Aggie and Cocky on your side does not leverage make.

you're banging your head like you've actually taken part in any level of substantive discourse in this thread or made any attempt to discuss the actual issue. You haven't. Not sure why it's been so difficult on you here when you've done nothing but take comments out of context and debate cursory issues.

secede to what exactly? Who would secede?

Where did I say we had any leverage? Clearly we don't. This is a message board with anonymous internet people talking about scheduling.

And I asked you to cite for me where I said it was NOT a rivalry. I simply called it a lower tier rivalry that shouldn't dictate scheduling for the rest of the conference. I never said it wasn't a rivalry, just not an important one for anyone outside of those schools.

not calling you out man, but you were the one on the opposing side, not that i am at all equating you to those other dill holes.

and yea, UF pisses everyone off. no one likes what has happened and no one likes the way it has hurt our status. everyone thinks florida runs our shite and for these last 2 decades they have. but that doesn't necessarily make it better than AU or GT. think about it, UF has gone 18/22 vs us and they still lag behind us in the the series record so you have to imagine how much we dominated them in the past if they can have such a run of dominance and then still not catch up.

UF now is like if GT beat the piss out of us for the next 20 years. we get back to an even keel in this series and i doubt you'll see the same fervor. in 2008 despite what UF did to us in JAX you could ask anyone and they'd all say they hated GT more.
