So if Auburn hates Bama more that automatically precludes them for demanding that they play Georgia each and every year?
To the detriment of the equitable scheduling solution? Certainly erodes their argument for the inequity to remain in place.

When has Auburn or Georgia ever suggested they would be open to not playing every year? When have they ever put that possibility on the table?
It's pretty clear they haven't or we wouldn't be having this debate based on the constant scheduling format.
quote:
Have Auburn or Georgia ever been anything other than 1000% crystal clear about their strong desire to play each and every year?
Again, this is what this discussion is about.

florida beating our asses for 20 years doesn't minimize a rivalry as old and balanced as Georgia vs Auburn. it's obviously important if our universities are fighting this hard to keep it. GT, AU, and UF are all on the same tier. people may hate other teams for different reasons but they all are on the same tier. GT is our instate rivalry, UF is an enormous party where recently UF had balanced the series and AU is an old game going back to our first season and still being this damn close.
my point is some LSU fans trying to act like this rivalry isn't important because their buddies said so and they don't wanna be stuck with florida is silly. it's very stupid to say our rivalry with AU is no where near UF. unless of course you think football began in 1990.
It didn't?

I wish Notre Dame was in the SEC so we would have Bama demanding to play them every year too...

I would bring up Nebraska vs. Oklahoma but somehow that argument is turned into the reason for the demise of the Big 12.

The problem with all this is that CBS and ESPN are not going to be happy when they learn that they will be losing the annual OleMiss-Vandy, MissSt-Kentucky, USC-A&M, and Arky-Mizzou games.
No one is for that proposal. It's just making the point that if Bama/Auburn/UGA/UT want their way, why can't LSU and Arkansas?

Lsu just looks like a bunch of pusses not wanting to play Florida. Um.. Hello? Florida sucks right now. The teams on top now will not always be on top. Same for the teams that suck. Every team in the SEC has had a good run at some point in history

What do you mean "and there you have it?" Did you think that I didn't realize this before I came on this thread? Or last year when I felt the same way. Or ten years ago when I felt the same way? You think some thread on this board was an epiphany?
Guess what brah. I was on the college football newsgroup Interwebz back in the 90s and these four schools felt the same way about their precious rivalries. Their position is the same as it always has been. But keep trying to persuade them. Maybe in 20 more years you'll persuade them!

The only reason they have leverage is because OM would be dumb to compromise their ability to more easily make the title game.
Yeah, Ole Miss is acting in their own self interest. So is Vandy. As virtually every school in the universe does.
Including LSU.

So when I say over and over again that I want to play UGA and South Carolina more, I'm being what exactly? Scared of Florida still? Do you realize how this is contradictory?

I've lived in GA for awhile now, and it seems like most UGA fans I've been around hate us a lot more than Auburn.
Just throwing my two cents in.

I'm not trying to persuade them, just pointing out the inequities of it. Like I said, I fully understand where they stand. I fully understand LSU is in the minority. And I also understand that we will likely continue to be in the minority as long as some teams having inherently easier constants than others. OM doesn't want to play UGA or South Carolina or UF more. Why? Because their constant is vandy.

Miles and Alleva do.
But this small unscientific poll shows many of our fans don't agree with them:

Few of us are happy about the reduced rotation. That's what this fight is really all about. I don't want the precious rivalries to be upset but the gripe about reduced rotation is legit. Hopefully a better solution will come forward. The 6-1-1 for Bama,AU,UGA,UT and 6-2 for the rest of us has potential. Apparently, it's being discussed down in Destin.
Miles is a poker player and I think he and Spurrier are just playing hardball to get something better for their respective schools. If Spurrier were still at Florida and kicking arse the way he did in the 90s, I'll bet you'd he'd have a very different tune right now.
Coaches gonna be coaches...

Which is why the discussion is a non-starter. It's not really about supporting the rivalry for these teams, but supporting the inequity that benefits them to the detriment of others. LSU is at the far disadvantage compared to other teams. I just want to play other teams more on a rotating basis that everyone is equally involved in.

Seriously, though, I respect the rivalries between Aub-UGa and Bama-Tenn. but those are really the only cross-division games that need to be considered for "protection."
I don't understand why some people can't see the Forrest for the trees in regards to letting everyone else rotate.
The LSU-Florida game is great, but LSU-Florida will still play twice every six years....and even better than that. LSU-Georgia will get to play twice every six years, and LSU-Tenn will get to play twice every six years, etc., etc. Who knows.....MAYBE JUST MAYBE we can develop some NEW rivalries in the SEC as a byproduct.
LSU needs to be playing UGA/Tenn/USC more than twice every 12 years as they would in the 6-1-1 model.

There never gonna get rid of the historic games of UA-UT and AU-UGA. It's not gonna happen. LSU doesn't play UGA and USCe as often as some would like...............shite happens. Quit whining and move on. We drew Florida as the permanent opponent. We deal with it. We don't cry because we cant't play UGA and USCe more often. LSU-UF is usualy epic, not counting the 90's
.

I was referring to the school and not the fans. As a fan I would want to watch and go to big games. It's not very fun watching your team play a DII team

Thank you. But apparently all Bama/UGA/AU/UT fans see is that "we're scared" to play UF.
FTR, this would all be solved if we went to a 6-2-1.

I'm right there with you. The fact that this isn't the easy solution to make everyone happy is telling though.

But we wouldn't be playing worse teams. Just other teams in the conference more. LSU isn't scared because we want to play on a rotating basis teams like UGA more.
