LSU has 5 ranked programs ahead on their schedule. If they run that gauntlet with success, I'll tip my cap. It's a long season.

Truly it was incredible they just have wild meth heads roaming around the streets in the daylight. There were more tweakers than there were normal humans.
Imagine Denham Springs but like x1000.

We put up as many points vs Clemson as OU did vs UTEP.

The good thing nowadays is you don't have to go undefeated. One loss doesn't end your entire season like it used to.
It's incredibly hard to go undefeated, and I don't necessary think we'll go undefeated. But I absolutely think we'll be a team no other teams wants to face in the College Football Playoff.
Realistically, I think we handle Ole Miss and go into the Alabama game 8 - 0. Our schedule is definitely backloaded and that stretch of Alabama at home, Texas at home and Tennessee on the road will be tough.
Out of the first 8 games, the only game that concerns me is Texas A&M. They've had our number the last two years and there could be a come down after the Ole Miss win. But if we get past Texas A&M, and I think we will, we'll easily be 8 - 0 going into the Alabama game.
If I had to guess right now, I say we beat Alabama at home but lose to either Texas at home or Tennessee on the road and go 11 - 1. Even if we lose 2 of those 3 games, 10 - 2 will be enough to get us in the CFP.

Both things can be true.
LSU has the potential to be really, really good and Clemson is a bad team.
Virtually every ranking, as well as the 2 preseason polls, had the same top 7 teams, in some order, as a tier above everyone else. I think they overlooked LSU because if the majority of their transfers that actually play "hit", they have the potential to beat anyone in the country.
Regarding Clemson, the only 2 groups of people hyping them up were Clemson and Miami fans. Clemson fans because they still can't comprehend that their program is not elite. Miami fans because their schedule is the 2nd weakest in CFB among the contenders, only behind Texas Tech, and their fans get really sensitive about it.

FSU beat Bama a playoff team last year. This is fools gold if I’ve ever seen it. Dominant against a team that was 7-6 last year and lost to Penn St in a bowl game. Not the flex you think it is. Carry on with the celebration as you should, but there a plenty of markers here to say wait until you play a team that isn’t trending down.

Every SEC team took care of business so far.Why not just respect every team and give them their due.

So you’re saying Clemson is a playoff team?

Very true
If you recall Indiana struggled vs old dominion first game last season. Some coaches make better adjustments as season goes.

It’s ok to admit they won week 1 and Lane looks vindicated in his decision. Your life will not change from admitting that. They didn’t spend over 40 million to be bad. They will be a force with Lane and the money they have invested.

Seems to me I struck a cord with the Gumbo Gimpies in Baton Rouge.
Nothing you say will move me off the fact that Clemson looked like dogshit. LSU looks good, but perspective is needed.
I’m not saying OU is good because I think we are a 3 loss team this year and think our defense will be worse. Our tackling was poor. So in the same vein, Clemson is shite, LSU could be good.
Also quoting previous success is also recency bias because I could also discuss how back I my day OU won X straight games and won x titles. It’s a fools errand. This year and last year are really all that matters.

You didn’t rustle anything with me. I’m simply pointing out that it seems like a lot of people aren’t willing to give LSU much credit for coming out better prepared and playing one of the most complete games I’ve seen from them in quite a while.
Rather than acknowledging that LSU played extremely well and deserves some credit for making Clemson look as bad as they did, the conversation seems to focus almost entirely on how “bad” Clemson is. I just think it’s worth considering that LSU may actually be a pretty good football team, and that their performance yesterday had a lot to do with how the game played out.

LSU looked great, just think that it’s skewed way too far towards, ‘OmG it’s the 2019 team’, ‘SEC sheephumpers are scared’ , and ‘They threw rocks, and we are coming for the SEC’.
LSU looked great, just saying I think it might be because Clemson isn’t the Clemson of old either. Granted this is against a major conference team and props to LSU. It’s ok to call out these facts and as one other poster said maybe all of this is true.
Time will tell.

I'm not claiming this is close to the 2019 team, but it's the best LSU has looked since then.
