Six season ending injuries to the online will do that. But that was last year.

Beamer needs to get more production out of his TE. He’s probably the fastest guy in the SEC right now. But he won’t.

The past two comments and really this whole thread, shows how most folks REALLY don't know that much about teams other than their own. They are really quick to write off teams as "they sucked last year so they'll suck this year", without knowing what's going on inside those programs.

For example, Beamer's last two recruiting classes are the best two in Columbia in the past 10 years. But nobody in the media has said a peep about that. SC got significant help on both lines (exactly where they needed it) via high school recruiting and the portal.

Well, yeah. But USC has traditionally flown under the radar when it comes to producing top-tier talent. No one knew who Deebo was until he became a superstar in San Fran.

I guess this thread was made to point out that Ashford wasn't the starter, which everyone in Columbia knew he wasn't going to be. The staff is high on Sellers, and there's reason for cautious optimism. But, we still don't know how well Beamer can coach or develop. He has some scalps which brought grace, but also some poor losses last year. We will see.

Ok. Why EXACTLY should he be on the hot seat?

Because SC had a ton of injures last year on the O-Line? Beamer's o-line had 6 season ending injuries. They didn't start the same O-line combo in a single game last season.
Because of the portal they only had 1 scholarship RB last year. That guy started as a QB moved to WR and THEN converted to RB?
Because their best receiver nursed an injury and sat out a year while collecting a 6 figure NIL check?

How are those things Beamer's fault and what could he have done to correct them? SC fans know what happened at our school last year and knows where the blame lies.

Besides. None of us want Tanner hiring another football coach. .

Harbor was considered a TE prospect out of high school. He was the number one athlete in his class, and projected to be a TE in college.

From his 247 recruiting profile: Verified size with frame to add 10 pounds and play tight end or add as much as 40 pounds and play edge.

The fact you guys have him at WR is news to me. You would think you would get him up to 250 lbs and be a LBer mismatch.

Because of his elite track status, he doesn't need to be engaged and blocking on the majority of his plays. Use your brain man.

DE. He was expected to play DE in college. He didn't want to put on the bulk required to do that, as sprinting is his primary sport.

He's a project - a massive one, at WR. He has elite measurables, but he's not a football player. No one expects anything out of him this season, really.

He looked good in limited action last year. Still a redshirt freshman though and will be a question mark for SC.

Probably because last year's class, while maybe great by SC standards, ranked 12th in the SEC.

Not if you include portal players.

And at some point it's splitting hairs. Unless you're getting elite classes (top 3 or 4) like UGA and Bama, then there really isn't much difference between 10th and 15th or 15th and 20th (I would say there is a big difference between 10th and 20th tho). It becomes an exercise in filling needs and not just pure * rankings. For example last year SC was down to 1 scholarship running back. What did Beamer do? He went and got 3 in the portal and another out of high school including Rocket Sanders who's an NFL prospect.

Your first take is pretty uneducated really.

Yeah I forgot I’m arguing with gamecock fans. Going 20-18 in 3 seasons gets you on the hot seat at a real football school.

Our last Coach was Will Muschamp. Anything's an improvement over that. He might know X's and O's but DESTROYED the football culture.

There's a reason you idiots fired TWO National Champion level coaches only to downgrade them...
