BCS Title Costs (2013 & Prior)

I thought it would be interesting in what everyone paid in the past compared to the new 'cheaper' tickets we have been seeing in the CFP era. I could of done the trips below slightly cheaper, but I wanted to have a good time.
2010 BCS title game - Total for $890 for 1
$325 for Lower level seat (Don't ask how)
0 for place to stay due to Grandpa living in Scottsdale)
$165 for flights (Flew standby there & got a cheap flight back)
$250 for rent a car (Split with a buddy)
$150 for food/merchandize/entertainment
2013 BCS title game - Total for $1,160 for 1
$325 for Lower level seat (wife graduated from FSU; friend in ticket office)
$200 for 4 nights in Vegas at New York New York (Split with wife)
$220 for flight
$65 for BCS Party Bus
$0 for car; no need on the strip
$350 for food/merchandize/entertainment (Vegas more expensive)
Demand for tickets is keeping the cost low so far. I expect this to continue unless a team who has not won in a while gets in like Georgia.

I think demand is low right now because the timing is shitty. Monday night game following a short turnaround from the playoff game. People don't have time to plan, extra time to take off work, and don't have a grand to spend on flight+hotel.

Of course, I couldn't miss a chance to take shot at a rival. Since I have lived in ATL for the past 10 years, I do root for GA as my east team.

2013 from FSU ticket office. 2010 sort of a similar situation. I expect to pay more in the future. I believe CFP tickets in most cases will be around face value for upper level seats.
I do not know how to make travel cost work for the CFP title game with 1 week of prep.

Keep in mind in 2010, I was staying with family so pretty much every meal was free. I did chip in.
Splitting the cost the wife is not a really a thing. I just did it to show as compared to 2010 which was the most expensive trip for most Auburn fans I know.
I just got to hope Auburn goes to Cotton, Orange, Fiesta, or Sugar. I live in Atlanta and got close family near those cities. If Auburn goes to CFP Peach next year, I will be able to get tickets at face or I'll sell them to a SEC fan.

The cheapest ticket for LSU/Ohio St was $600. Possibly because Ohio St travels well and LSU is so close to New Orleans with the superdome holding 75,000

If I remember correctly, isn't the reason the Auburn/Oregon game so expensive was because Phoenix has a lower seating capacity that the other BCS venues at that time? Less seats = fewer supply = higher cost on the resale market. Funny to think this one is that different.

This was completely out of the norm. That ticket was one of the highest, if not the highest scalped ticket in CFB history. I sold two upperdeckers for $5k.

During the 2nd half of the SECCG in 2010, my wife looked over at me and I was on my phone. She said *why aren't you watching the game?" I said, "I'm booking our tickets to Phoenix". She said, "Wait, we haven't discussed this!" I said "Auburn has a chance to play for the national title for the first time in 53 years and I'm going to be there come hell or high water. You coming or not?"
