barqs was the best before coke bought them out in 90s it was never as good after that but it’s not vomit

i grew up in Ocean Springs, next to Biloxi for those who don’t know, and the Barqs family. Good people and good root beer. You used to be able to buy just the rootbeer syrup in supermarkets and make your own, which was even better.
For us it was an ice cold Barqs in a bottle, and a roast beef or French Dip Poboy at Mahoneys cafe, with desporte bread of course. i used to love to dip those chips in that au jus sauce.
they had all the Barqs in a stand up ice Cooler by the register and they pulled them out of the ice and opened them for you at your table. i usually had two with a poboy

Birch beer is delicious. Only ever had it in Hershey, PA but it’s fantastic.
