Did you know every team in the SEC has been to the sweet sixteen since you guys last went to one? I mean, I know you guys had success a really really long time ago but eventually you guys have to do something. Your program has been the worst in the SEC for a quarter century.

He was 2.1 seconds and a questionable call as time expired from an Elite 8 this year.

That would worry me as a Tennessee fan.
As an Arkansas fan I'd be worrying more about the fact that your team hasn't made the 2nd week of the tournament since the 1900s and less about what Tennessee is doing. Yet here we are, in a thread created by Arkansas fans about Tennessee basketball. Ho hum

It was the right call. Sorry but it was. Close don’t cut it.
This was actually very thread worthy news. I’m sorry Rick disrespected you guys this much. I’m sure it will do wonders for him and the fan base. Fans already turning on him Going to be very interesting to watch if he has a couple of bad games.

I'm surprised you had time to catch our game with everything Arkansas was able to accomplish in the tournament.
What seed were you guys again?

Of course I saw it, I have some good family and friends that are Vol grads. Watched it with them and was rooting with them all the way till the end. I have nothing against the vols but it was the right call.
All trolling aside, I do find it strange that you haven't really addressed the actual statements by Barnes yet. Most Vols are not too happy, not the end of the world but not something you want to see the head coaching saying even if it is the truth.

Is there a Vol/ Arky rivalry or something?
It's a one-sided affair. They were a cross-div rival during the first expansion but it was always friendly (minus the Stoernover game that a lot of Ark fans can't get over). Mainly, I think it boils down to a lot of Ark fans watch and listen to Memphis tv and radio and hear about the Vols all the time. We don't really hear about tArk tho.

Eh, some Arkansas fans can't get over it but it has nothing to do with Tennessee and everything to do with Clint

True, true. Related to that season... Chris Weinke is on staff now and he told Fulmer he wanted an invite to the championship team reunion. He joked that his absence from the game helped.

My first game in Neyland was 4 years later for that 6OT game when I was a little kid. Sister was in school at Knoxville. Only thing I remember was wondering why the game was so damn long and thinking I was going to fall down the rows because we were so high up.

That was a crazy game. And yeah, Neyland is one of the steeper stadiums but that steepness allows for great views even in the higher seats (you're closer to the field even higher up than in most other stadiums).
That said, it can be unnerving, especially if you aren't used to it. I remember sitting up there when I was a kid and having a similar reaction. (Thankfully, we're in the lower seats now).

True and I guess it is more expected with stadiums that big.

Yeah, have been back 2 or 3 times but we were always in the lower section. Never have a bad time returning there. My brother-in-law is as big of a VOL fan as they come, hard not to root with him against a neutral opponent.

No doubt. I actually miss our old cross-div game. I always had some of the best game day experiences with Arkansas fans and I like to pull for tArk when it's another foe. Just two really fun fanbases, imo.

When I went to UT in the late '90s, I thought Knoxville was a crummy town too. Which it was back then. I was happy to graduate and get out of there.
I can't change your opinion, but it's a cool town these days. It's worth visiting if you have not done so. Recently, I returned to East TN to visit family. We took a day trip to Knoxville I was blown away at how clean, hip, and urban the place has become. I had a great time and was impressed with the direction the city is going in. I cannot wait to come back and have even thought about retiring there (20 years ago, I would have retched at the thought of that.)
That said, what about Knoxville rubbed you the wrong way? I see you are a Big 12 guy- do you hate UT, or did you visit and not have a good experience? Just curious

Yet he still told the Arkansas AD that he thought your basketball program was dead and that he would never leave Tennessee for Arkansas.

quote:Nah.
Having a basketball program that died 20+ years ago and hasn't made the second weekend of the tournament since the 1900's is exponentially worse.
Now post yours.

Our coach literally turned down Arkansas. Are you guys still bitter about it?

Thankful if it happened. We know Regular season Rick’s ceiling.
